Neolithic causewayed enclosure at Burham (Kent, England). This enclosure is located on the slope of the Medway Valley, about 5km north-west of White Horse Stone:
Inner ditch looking north-ish.
Outer ditch fill section, showing flint and other debris embedded in the layer.
Outer ditch refuse deposits – animal bone, pottery, flint and charcoal.
Inner ditch fill section to the base of the ditch (about 2m wide).
View of the west terminal excavation at the base of the ditch. Neolithic tool-marks can be seen as the ditch terminal slopes upwards to the left. This Neolithic ditch floor may be dated around 3600 BC.
