what's rhe coolest thing about being a bi guy?
For me personally one of the coolest things about being a bi (trans) guy is the fact that my identity is subverting, reimagining, and transforming an identity that, at its current most popular understanding within western culture and patriarchy, is a rigid, emotionally stunting, and self hating thing, into something that one can be grounded in and truly proud of. I am proud to be a man, i’m proud of be a queer man, i’m proud to be gender expansive man and that pride allows for me to express myself in ways much clearer and authentic ways then i would be able to otherwise.
Specifically on the bi side of things, i love how vast and beautiful my sexuality is, and i love how deliciously it pairs with my gender identity. It allows me to love humanity, all of it, very deeply and very radically. I can appreciate all variations of the human condition, i love the different combinations of human sexuality and gender, i love the cultural differences that we have, and i love my fellow human beings with all of my heart. This is what my politic and worldview are rooted in, a deep love of humanity and an enjoyment of being human and loving other humans without any restrictions.
to combine these two concepts, being bisexual and a guy feels almost like i’m an explorer of my own identity and experiences. expansive masculinity / manhood is an unexplored and unknown aspect of western masculine and man/male identity, and i get to be one of the few who can and does create a masculinity / manhood for myself, and who’s bisexuality draws from and in turn supplements his masculinity. This is also where my butch identity comes from, from the twisting and shifting intersection between bisexuality and masculinity/manhood. my butchness is the easiest way for me to quickly explain my bisexual and man identity as they exist together, and bloom into butchness.
It also feels important to note here that my bisexuality and manhood are only two aspects of me, and they cannot be separated from the other identities i hold. All of my identities and the experiences i have due to them, weave together to create me. My fatness, my queerness, my butch identity, my man and masculine identity, my intersex identity, my neurodivergence, my religious trauma, my queerness, my transness, all of these influence and impact each other in ways that are incredibly complex, and it is difficult to only pull two of them apart from the others and explain them without the added context of everything else i am being visible too.
however, if i had to boil the experience of being a bi trans man down into a few sentences i would say this:
being bi and a (trans) man feels like freedom. freedom from binaries, freedom from restriction, and freedom from the limits of mainstream society. It feels powerful, playful, important, organic and delightfully rich. My existence is revolutionary and through this i fight to make a better world for people me and those different then me.
and also, i love loving boys, girls, and enbies, as a butch bi boy, or a BBB if you will :)
thank you for the question anon, and apologies for how long it took me to reply i’ve had a very long week. I hope you’re doing just fine, and having a wonderful day <3
