Lily when a female character faces a minor challenge: STOP TORTURING THEM!

I've got a longer post in the works for this as a wider topic, but the short is that she just wants badass character on paper. Cool powers and flash out the ass. A very childish, binary view of being badass. Being badass is about the strength of character. Most all of her characters fail at being badass, ironically, for being overqualified. Doing something you knew you could do and knowing you were capable of doing it isn't all that badass a lot of the time.

Easy example, in One Punch Man, Saitama is not badass for killing the Deep Sea King, but Mumen Rider is badass for standing up to him. For a simple reason, Saitama is so strong that he can simply overpower the laws of physics. He was always going to one-shot the DSK. Mumen Rider, meanwhile, has no powers unless you are willing to count outstanding cardio. Man's got a pretty standard bike and body armor that looks repurposed from a sports goods store... That did not stop him from flinging his bike at the giant fish monster and trying to grapple him despite the DSK BEING 10 TIMES HIS SIZE. Even after getting bodied by the big guy giving him a pummeling in the form of a lazy handshake, he gets back up and even admits that he knows he doesn't have a fucking fraction of a chance against this fucking demon fish man, but the only thing that matters is he is here and he will fight with the implicit message being that if he can buy the civilians any time, even seconds, then he is completely fine with whatever happens to him. That is badass. This character is more badass than any character Lily will ever write, and he is a normal dude on a very plain bike.

Truth be told I’m confused as to why Lily of all people would care if Catra and Adora were adopted sisters or not. I mean in her own Pokémon comic G (who sa’d comic Lily (then Comic Lily was seen as bad for putting a lock on her door) had a will they won’t they for the whole comic until deciding to be sisters and also grew up together. And as someone who hates Catra and Catradora instead of clinging to the ‘it’s because there sistersss!!! Aspect (which has been disproven as miswording) just focus on the shit that’s actually shitty with the couple then pulling at straws. Same with Vi and Catlyn (which I do love). Just because two characters (Jinx and Cat) have the same hair color (not even the same shade) and shoot a gun doesn’t mean there the same.
