Not enough people talk about the fact that Morrowind has a semi-canonical sci-fi spinoff where the Dunmer have a lunar base and Vivec and the final Nerevarine get married and have a kid who ostensibly begins the next kalpa - like!!! TES truly has it all
what is vuunaryn's deal? genq/
been kinda sitting on this because im like, trying to do a storyline with this blog but i'm so irregular with uploads that i feel like i might as well just explain.
This is an AU in which C0DA happened... my way, i guess. As in it kind of happened but the plan to reach Amaranth just didn't work. Vuunaryn is the child of Vivec and Jubal-Lun-Sul, and was essentially raised to be a double of Memory, recording time as it happens and helping to pull the strings in favor of reaching enlightenment. She's not very into the idea of only ever doing what her parents say to do though, and hates the way she was trained into this position and feels quite a bit of resentment towards them for it, specifically Vivec.
She starts off by telling already known parts of stories and then begins slowly adding her own takes on it. Her goal is to re-write the events of the story to entertain herself, alongside of making things more complicated for Vivec to navigate. She talks a lot with Nerevar and Almalexia, for example, trying to break them up to keep that one leg of prophecy from being fulfilled. Thats what Performative Hours is about, and i've got the next chapter heavy in the works for that right now.
This is all part of a larger commentary, playing off the idea that C0DA set where any interpretation of the universe is valid. I wanted to take that to a more extreme level and essentially write my own elder scrolls lore, hah.
hope this helps explain her a bit better. if anyone has any further questions abt her, id love to answer to the best of my ability. A lot of this stuff is written on vibes alone though, and its really just a fun project for me to test out mediums of storytelling.
thanks for the ask!
The Agent is a Bard: TES Ramble
I want to preface this by saying this is purely headcanon, c0da-leaning, and completely out there in terms of solidity and in terms of what is widely known/available. I am and have been a huge Elder Scrolls lore and non-canon additions nut since I was a wee child. So let’s get into this.
In the Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, the protagonist is a relatively blank slate like in all the other entries. However, I’ve personally headcanoned that the Agent is a Bard. Agent is a class that appears in the later entries, (Morrowind, Oblivion) but has no presence in Daggerfall itself. Unless of course you re-create it via a custom class. So what’s the idea? Bards are storytellers, usually giving their stories through song — and a key factor in Daggerfall’s plot is the Numidium, the giant Brass Golem created by the Dwemer. Daggerfall also possesses multiple endings that were unified into a single explanation of the “Warp in the West” where upon Numidium’s activation, time stopped flowing linearly and all the possible outcomes happened.
This brings to mind an idea of the concept of a game of telephone, how a story changes ever so slightly each time it’s told. Who else but a Bard would tweak their story a little bit over and over, saying they made different choices that resulted in something unique to spice up their narrative? Now obviously the Agent seemingly vanishes after the events of Daggerfall, probably due to screwing with Time so supremely.
Numidium, and by extension the Dwemer, utilized a form of magic known as Tonal Architecture — which is using sound in such a way that magic effects are brought about. Bards obviously also use sound. This is purely a neat little thematic connection to be made for the idea, Tonal magic, and a Bard’s musical storytelling. The multiple outcomes, the Numidium breaking the Dragon, a story told with slight differences each time: all because a storytelling, song-singing Bard made all the choices possible to please everybody they could via a giant fantasy time-warping mecha.
For a while, I have been pondering over the thought that Lorkhan and Aka are not enemies. Lorkhan enthusiasts and Auriel enthusiasts will probably not like that, if they prefer the notion of eternal conflict between the two.
I believe, that specifically in the current Kalpa, Aka and Lorkhan may be the most cooperative.
For a long while I believed that Aka was evil. Why? Because I looked at Alduin and Auriel and was like: How is Aka supposed to be a good guy? And *suprise*, Aka is not evil.
[You can always correct me if you want, or if you have something to add]
That is because Alduin is essentialy that early wrath of Aka that unlike everything else on Mundus, never gets devoured. He is basically the version of Aka that looked at himself and the Et'ada around him and was disgusted by it - even by himself.
So Alduin is essentialy that early frustration of Aka, incarnate. That which continued to live on for possibly NUMEROUS of Kalpas. In a way, Alduin really hates himself the most and wants to devour himself, though he can't. Because the Dawn he can't undo.
It is indeed possible that we as The Last Dragonborn ended his misery, after he had survived for Kalpas and Kalpas on end.
That version and memory of Aka, aka Auriel, we hear about is fury and anger that is possibly worlds in the past. Though, he eventually gives up his powers for stability's sake.
Alduin is really that one wound within the kalpic cycle that was now left to be healed. He was that memory of a failed past that always slipped through. I think that makes the feat of the "Dovahkiin Ysmir Stormcrown" much much more meaningful.
The other wound was Lorkhan's heart lying beneath the Red Mountain. Praise Nerevarine for that!
In any case, when i read through the Song Of Pelinal it seems to me as if Alessia represented Aka and Pelinal represented Lorkhan, and yet also the other way around. Alessia/Aka the empress/king who sits the throne, governs, rules and then there is Pelinal, another Mask of the astrayed Sithis, being the shadow of Aka. Only that this shadow moves by itself.
Than the obvious synthesis between Aka and Lkhan, manifested as the many later Dovahkiin suggests that Aka and Lkhan drive each other.
Then Akatosh who is basically a dragon, powered by a human heart and later Talos who is powered by Aka's soul. The Nords who were once Dragons and the Dragons that were once Nords.
So... Aka and Lorkhan are not enemies and not rivals. It is merely the fragments and memories of forgotten worlds and an unchangeable past that slip through and blight our vision.
I have so many more points, but I fear that I will lose the plot, as I am writing this as a freestyle.
Cheese.
A SHORT WHILE AFTER RECOVERY, I FOUND MYSELF WITH MY MOTHER, WHO HELD ME IN AN EMPTY SPACE. "THIS IS YOURS, CHILD." SHE HAD TOLD ME. "MAKE WHAT YOU WILL OF IT."
SHE SET ME DOWN AND I TOOK A STEP, EXPECTING A TUMBLE. TAKING ANOTHER STEP, I LOOKED BACK TO WHERE SHE STOOD EXPECTANTLY.
I HAD ASKED HER IN THIS MOMENT, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I DID NOT HAVE A WILL? SHE LAUGHED TO ME. A BIRCHROD MIGHT SERVE AS INSPIRATION IN HER MIND.
THE BEGINNING OF THE WORDS IS AMARANTH
IN MY BEGINNING HOURS I WAS HELD AS A DUPLICATE, ATTACHED TO MYSELF AS A FORM OF SHADOW-- AN UN-STAR. SHE WAS RIPPED FROM ME, AND I PLUNGED INTO A THICK VIEW OF VISIONS, WHICH I SWAM THEN AND WILL SHOW TO YOU NOW:
A BARREN ICE FIELD, A NEW INCARNATE STANDS FAR IN VIEW. SHE AGREES. THIS IS DYRE MOON, AND WILL BE THE HOME OF A THIRD.
A BEGGAR. SHE ASKS ME FOR A COIN. I REFUSE.
A WOMAN IN A LIBRARY. SWEET SONGS WERE ONCE SUNG HERE. ALAS.
I AWOKE HELD ALONE. MY MOTHER (AT THE TIME) WINKED AND MADE ME WELL. I WAS PLACED IN A BED OF FLOWERS. THIS WAS TO HONOR THAT I AM NO INCARNATE. I TAKE NO INSPIRATION OUTSIDE MY OWN DELUSION. I AM SOMETHING NEW ENTIRELY.
THE BEGINNING OF THE WORDS IS AMARANTH
A messy C0DA-style dunmer.
I want him to stay here too.
