"Oh nOOooOOOO, you can't READ!!!"
man. as someone who works in a museum, specifically in collections, i really love the research that taliesin did for bolaire as a museum curator. like. when it comes to objects brought into a collection, knowing where it came from and who collected it is so important!!! i’m not as familiar with that level of work for actual objects, on an anthropology or archeology or just history level, but provenance is so key, especially since many older pieces can be hazardous to be handled without gloves or other precautions. even in a natural sciences collections, there are things that are hazardous that need to be handled with care or kept in storage away from other specimens or people. like!! i’m so happy that taliesin clearly did the research and is incorporating it into the character and i am so so excited to see what comes of it!!!! bolaire is so fun and i can’t wait to see the deeply fucked homebrew taliesin cooked up
If the free Thjazi conspirators were betrayed to the point House Tachonis knows Occtis was involved, then some collection of the Sundered Houses must also have all the other names as well. That means Thaisha at least is known and potentially Azune as well. With Thimble having been attacked, Occtis being actively hunted by multiple parties, and both Talcydimir Pridesire and Casimir Gavendale missing, how long until the shoe drops for the other two conspirators?
Also, do the Sundered Houses know of Thjazi's smuggling connections with Bolaire and Murray? Even though they weren't involved with the escape plan, might that association get them sucked into the same investigation? We suspect Thjazi's thefts of magical antiquities and their connection to whatever his bigger plan was concerning the Sundered Houses, and House Tachonis in particular, was what motivated his execution. If House Tachonis is tying up loose ends, surely their names would be on the list as well?
That's a lot of folks who will need to be on the run soon, and maybe a hint to what the post-episode 4 tables will look like.
"Now I can't discipline her alright, her family built the swords that killed the god of war, you on the other hand I will smack at a funeral no questions asked"
I would die for Loza and her bad knee.
Thoughts about episode 2 in no particular order:
- Thimble was a wedding gift. THIMBLE was a WEDDING GIFT. THIMBLE WAS A WEDDING GIFT! THI-
- Is Julien Fey and is he Aranessa's Fey Guardian? Her Family seemingly has Fey... "servants", but we don't know from what age.
- Speaking of Julien, it's kinda funny how Matt played Trafalgar Law in "One Piece" and then made his character Doflamingo...
- Did Wick's grandma fuck the Angel before or AFTER he went feral? 👀
Cause she seems old enough to remember pre-Godless Araman...
- WTF is up with Thjazi getting relics connected to the different afterlives? Was he trying to bridge the gap so that everyone could get what they wanted?
- By the mention of "effortless magic" we can assume Primus Tachonis is a Sorcerer... And now I'm thinking how he must feel about his son being a Wizard and NOT having been born with magic... Are the whole family Sorcerers? Do they ALL hate him? No wonder he went to help Thjazi!
-I love that we seem to get a Thjazi cold open every episode, likely to keep the guy haunting the narrative even MORE present in our minds.
-Good Lord, Travis/Teor played Sam/Wick like a FIDDLE!
- I must protect Agony. She's a little demon BEAN! GET HER A HELMET!
- Enmity is super abrasive, Cruelty feels like a Mean Girl™ and Agony constantly gets hurt... IS SHE NAMED "TYRANNY" BECAUSE SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO PUPPET WICK BEHIND THE SCENES WHEN HE FINALLY ROSE TO POWER?!
- Speaking of Wick, we all thought Sam would be the one faking it, but I turns out that he was the only one believing. It's somehow WORSE than "the whole family of Cleics just didn't tell him he wasn't a Cleric"... NO WONDER he was surprised by Teor! "What do you MEAN there's people that can use The Light™ without even knowing what it is?"
He was so indoctrinated that he didn't know Divine Magic existed outside the Halovars...
- Every Family has something going on: Halovars have the whole "Sorcs in Cleric's clothing" thing, Tachonis are Necromancers, the Einfasen's are replacing the structures of power with their own people politically, the Royce's were the guardians of the Fairy Gate and thus got Fey slaves (Thimble seemed surprised at being Thjazi's friend and equal) for each family member... Whatever that last Sundered House does CAN'T be good...
- I was fully ready to ship Tyranny and Occtis, but here's Aabria trying to get him into the family! XD
- Kattigan, brother SAY SOMETHING, MAN! YOU SOUND SO COOL BUT SAY SO LITTLE!!!
- The Halovars and the Thaconises are close allies... The Necromancers and the Fake Religion. Somehow the LITERAL DEMONS seem to be the least scheme-y ones!
- We still don't know Cas and Cyd, but from the cold open we know that Cas saved Thjazi, so he can't really be that bad, unless there was a TERRIFIC falling out... So so far, Cyd is the prime suspect for getting bought out by the Thaconis...
- Even Julien's family liked Thjazi. So much so that they ACTIVELY ORDERED Julien not to go after him. This tells me 3 things: 1) Julien was a THREAT as a boy and they didn't want him to succeed. 2) He doesn't brag about taking Thjazi in... He DEFINITELY turned himself in and made it seem like Julien won. 3) I FULLY believe that Thjazi ONLY let himself be captured because he was so sure he'd escape. He probably did it just to see Aranessa again...
Which begs the question: Did Julien sabotage the plan...? Maybe he knew Cas from the Rebellion or came across Cyd after he was disciplined and struck a deal with one of them...
Either way, he would have been FUMING if Thjazi lived... What if he was grinning at the execution because his plan WORKED?
GOD, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!
Feral Celestial
The second Brendan told the history of the Celestials after the Shapers War and the way he described Wicks grandpa I immediatley thought of the angel from The Digital Circus and its horrifying screams
