While most Cabalists hold contempt and fear for the Tree of Death, the able magician who is able to consciously (and subconsciously) may grow strong from the dark current.
From a Left Hand Path perspective.
the Qlippoth is a powerful source of primal wisdom, it is a current which feeds the depths of the mind and spirit.
The magician who may tap into this "darkness", will gain empowerment from the daemonic forces and the shadows therein.

The Cabalists
In bad times, even the best commodity - divine science - sinks in value. And so, in the end, nothing remains of the Lashchower yeshiva(6) but the Rosh Yeshiva Reb Yekel and a single disciple.
The Rosh Yeshiva is an old, gaunt man with a long, dishevelled beard and extinguished eyes. Lemech, his only disciple, is a long, lanky youth with a pale face, black temple curls, black, mostly sunken eyes, dry lips and a pointed, quivering throat. Both wear patched skirts that are open at the front, revealing their naked bodies - for they have no shirts on. The Rosh Yeshiva drags a pair of heavy peasant boots with great difficulty; the student's much too large city shoes fall off his bare feet, for he has no socks.
This is all that remains of the once famous yeshiva!
The impoverished inhabitants of the little town sent less and less food and invited the pupils to meals less and less often. That is why the poor pupils moved to other towns. But Reb Jekel wants to die here, and his pupil wants to put the broken pieces on his eyes.
They both have to starve a lot. And when you eat little, you sleep little. And after sleepless nights and many days of hunger, one gets the desire for Kabbalah!
If you have to stay up all night and go hungry for days, you at least want to benefit from it: through fasting and mortification you can open all the gates of the world and reveal all the secrets, angels and spirits!
So the two of them have been studying the Kabbalah for a long time. [12]
