So in one of my classes today, we discussed some black history , cuz ya know, its black history month and afterword's my teacher asked my Canadian math teacher what they did during this month. Apparently, along with black history month, they took one week out of the month to celebrate all ethnicity's, which sounds pretty cool to me.

She was also saying that in Canada, you never had to fill out your race for job applications. It made things difficult for her because for the longest time she didn't know what she was considered, when it came to her ethnicity (she's mixed with Indian, black, and white). I couldn't help but wonder why they even need to know our race when applying for a job. Like does it really matter? The only thing I can really think of is maybe language boundaries er somthin. It just seem weird.

And another thing that caught my attention, was when she said when she first moved to NC (not that part I live in of course) that the racism was very apparent in some people. " its like they never took a second thought before they spoke." She was chocked by it even. Its was almost embarrassing to hear her say that. Just imagine how people outside the U.S think of some of us.
