It’s 1981 and perpetual outcast Duane Townsend is recruited to play summer ball in the Cape Cod Baseball League. There, he becomes teammates with effeminate Alabaman pitcher Leon Swann. The Cape, with all its magic, is their first and last chance at anonymity. They decide to take it.

For Rice Magazine I spent a couple of days photographing Rice University baseball player Ford Proctor while he played in the Cape Cod League this past summer . A lot of these guys will get a chance to play in The Show and playing in the Cape Cod League can be a big opportunity to get noticed.
