Plush Wool Dolman Capelet, 1880s

Hi everyone. I just got back from Eclipse Trip, wherein I left the city I live in, which was in the path of totality, to travel thousands of miles to the town of my father's birth, which was ALSO in the path of totality, to see the eclipse. ANYWAY I was going through one of the only airports where my knitting needles have been threatened by TSA, so I brought only a single crochet hook with me. I had decided to convert Klaziena into a capelet, and I was too successful: I finished the project halfway through the visit.
So I used the remainder of my yarn to make a more different crochet shawl, because, again, this was a Crochet Only trip
Once again, I finished it too soon. So I stole yarn from my mother, and started my second shawl-to-capelet conversion: tasty tamarind edition
The second pic is how it would look if I wore the points in the front WHICH I WILL NEVER DO OF COURSE because this is a capelet, beautiful, stylish, lovely, and not a poncho, ugly, outdated, embarrassing.

Cinnamon bun ask! What would you bring back?
Just one thing? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Corsets, for starters.
Mommie Dearest! This look is one of my favorite looks in the entire show. Blaire completely looks the part of a pampered little girl, and the cutseyness of the outfit goes well with the petty and childish way she acts in this episode. This episode is also all about B’s relationship with her parents, so I love that they put her mother in a matching plaid ensemble. Also I just like capes.
In your experience, how warm are capelets? I'm thinking about buying/making one for a Christmas coord I'm working on and using it instead of a jacket, but I'd be wearing it to an outdoors event in 30-40 degree weather and would like an opinion before I go and make myself sick!
How warm they are depends a lot on what they’re made out of just like coats. Most of the time anything made of wool or a wool blend will be your warmest option. However, since they tend to not hug the body as closely as a coat they tend to allow more airflow which can be trouble when it’s freezing outside. That being said, it’s a similar effect to wearing a skirt or dress in cold weather and the cold can be combated by wearing warm layers underneath. Still maybe not the best option for extended periods of time in freezing weather though.
