I finished the first book in the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb so I'm slowly getting some art out of my system. Here's Captain Kennit🏴‍☠️ (Pls no series spoilers in the replies I thank you kindly)

One book into the Liveship Traders trilogy and I realise I could never support an adaptation purely because Kennit would send the internet into a shambles. The man was grown in a lab to do numbers on tumblr.com. First time you meet him you’re told he has blue eyes and mommy issues. He’s a pretty boy, a germaphobe, and the most ruthless man to ever live. He’s going to make himself pirate king whether they want him or not with a bit of luck, a magical charm, and a prophecy he wrote himself. Moral ambiguity? There’s no ambiguity. He does not show a single redeeming quality in an 800+ page book. He hates women, he’s ambivalent to slavery, he thinks empathy makes you an idiot. And yet he’s worshipped like a god wherever he goes, propelled forward into successes he desperately craved but had almost no hand in achieving. There is a slice of the internet that would foam at the mouth over this man and they would have our dashboards in a strange hold. Pirate Patrick Bateman can never take corporeal form. This website would never recover.

am i allowed to say something dark that has probably been said before🧍🏻‍♀️thinking today about kennit using the hacked-away chips of paragon’s wizardwood to poison igrot’s crew before he kills them. thinking about wizardwood and memory -> serpents and dragons eating wizardwood to retain memory. thinking about how paragon’s wizardwood holds all the darkest memories of kennit’s beatings and rape and the pain he suffered at igrot’s hands. and like oh my god. the idea of those memories being infused in igrot’s entire crew (hallucinations??) right before kennit the ludluck boy comes to kill them. woaaaah ahaha woah

you know, i thought regal with his scheming in the farseer trilogy was bad. i get really anxious when reading about people with a kind of boundless power who can invade minds and who seem to be able to know your next move inevitably, so he was a really effective villain for me, at least for royass and some of assquest.

now i'm 20% into ship of magic and oh my gods step aside regal because kyle and kennit make my blood boil. name two more horrible, horrifying, annoying, idiotic men. being in kennit's head SUCKS. he's a loser and so slimy i feel like i need a bath. having to be in any room with kyle? the worst experience that could possibly befall you. i wish them both a very i explode you with my mind. oh my gods.
