"Preparing [for the role of Nikki] was really fun. We got to watch a lot of fun movies, and kind of pick and choose, like a puzzle, what we wanted in the film. Moments that we took inspiration from, and made them our own." — Inde Navarrette for Fandango "We watched Get Out, and focused on a lot of the moments where characters are showing an emotion underneath but saying something completely different [on the surface], and how horrific that is. There's a scene where [Nikki] is saying, "no", and there is a [similar] scene in Get Out [which we took inspiration from]." — Inde Navarrette for A Shot Magazine Obsession (2026) Dir. thinking ab the fact that the witches delayed arresting Engendale until he and the other Wise were in Ezrest castle, with their magic disabled.
thinking about howwwww much complaining and whinging surrounded the fact, with Utowin demonstratively shivering and voicing the opinion of many, that the magicless castle is so scarryyyy and oppressive to them. about how Vinanna and Easthies simply HAD to show off their physical prowess, lest the Outsiders think for even a second that they might have the upper hand over the "divine visitors" (thank you Lagrah, excellent choice of phrase). that while they sigh and whinge about the castle, they also smugly pat themselves on the back for arresting Engendale – one of the Wise, an incredibly smart and powerful witch – in this scary magicless place. because a usual arrest, coming up against Engendale as equal witches, might have been too hard and messy. nevermind that now, this exceptionally powerful individual was arrested in the heart of the country, with so many Outsider civilians in attendance, and placed under arrest in the literal seat of the Outsider power. so much for keeping apart. like, of course ONE OF THE WISE, a man already proved to be dishonorable and dangerous, wouldn't go down without a fight, of course when cornered he'd turn all of his knowledge and resources (which none of the scaaary Outsiders that live in the scaary magicless castle possess) into getting out and maybe getting revenge.
thinking about how Deanreldy kneeling in front of Beldaruit in the end of the arc is seen by large portion of this fandom as some kind of sneak diss, a deliberate upset of the previously perfectly balanced scales, when to me it's like. nothing other than acknowledgement of the facts. on Dean's part it's about the levels of warring power of the witches and the fact that they easily circumvent their own "ironclad" rules regarding medical care when a clever enough nepoapprentice thinks of a nifty enough loophole, ofc, but i just keep thinking of the castle. the witches begrudge it's existence – the only known place where they're made equal to the Outsiders – so goddamn much, but now it turns out it was never even doing that at all. again, a clever enough witch just danced around it. this place, where among other people, Dean's pregnant wife and little son live, was never safe from the witches, was never "held apart" from them. so he is not a liar, he actually factually kneels before his betters, the most powerful.
book!Lestat's optimism ab the 80s vs show!Lestat's cynical disdain about 2020s..... yeah checks out

proud victim of the tumblr accent. it's fading out of public consciousness as the tik tok accent takes precedence; a linguistic evolution that makes the tumblr accent 85% funnier to unsuspecting civilians. it's like releasing a disease on a non-inoculated population. coughing baby versus hydrogen bomb.
the gay divorce shows airing at the same time seem to be charging a level of work spousery not seen in my recent memory and I have my hands pressed to the exhibit window watching it happen concurrently
gay divorce summer sundays, it’s been an honor. see you in [redacted] years
it is my pleasure to report that 2 years later we are back!!!!! HAPPY GAY DIVORCE SUMMER SUNDAYS SEASON TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!!!
I found this really cool digital archive of letters written by 4th~13thc women!
Epistolae is a collection of letters to and from women in the Middle Ages, from the 4th to the 13th century. The letters, written in Latin,
the fact that fifty year old Jaeherys Targaryen put his life on the line to fight a battle against a young man his daughter was fucking. fifty is not that old but against a strong young man in his prime. Jesus. could've gone differently. and obviously he won but to make such a production out of that. to fight and kill a man in front of an audience and tell the world 'This is what happens when you take what's mine. I will stake my fucking life on it. I own my daughter's virginity and I sell it to the highest bidder and if you have a problem with that you can talk to my sword arm or my 900 ton dragon'. I'd imagine the message was crystal clear. not saying there aren't idiots in westeros who wouldn't risk the wrath of violent misogynist king jaeherys for a night in bed with a targaryen princess. but if there was a person out there who risked it for gael, why wasn't he punished? especially since she became pregnant, and the loss of that pregnancy killed her. king jaeherys was older, but he had seven knights in his kingsguard who I'm sure would've swung on his behalf. and thats IF he wasn’t psychotic enough for a Beesbury repeat performance. a singer would've known the entire story of gael’s older sister in iambic pentameter. how would he have gotten away with impregnating her and stealing into the night, when a couple alleged kisses sparked the second biggest bitchfit in westerosi history from king j? why was her pregnancy, the loss of that pregnancy, and her suicide kept a secret? what was the reason? and if the father came from her own house, what was preventing a hasty shotgun wedding? am i supposed to believe jaeherys so easily gave up his ownership of his daughter's virtue when the last time this happened, he held his child down, chopped up her boyfriend, and chased her from the country?
every other post on this site has the caption "my beautiful gay girl wife princess bpd boyfriend husband girlwife girl hes a woman to me" and then a gifset of the most mid white cishet neurotypical actor ever
I think you guys forget that valyria was a slave empire so violent their victims invented the euthanasia religion 💀
