Do you both prefer discovering yanderes for yourselves or being told about them beforehand? My bestie just recommended a movie and she knows how much I like my yanderes. It's a horror thriller so I kind of feel like she's ruined the surprise/twist. I'm really torn because I do like knowing if there's a yandere but if knowing that ruins the twist/surprise then I'd prefer to go in blind. I'm curious how you two feel about it. ^^
Personally, Julie and I don’t mind being told about it beforehand. In fact, we prefer to know if there is a yandere or not to know if the show or movie (etc.) is worth our time. If we were already planning to watch/read the thing in question, we don’t really care if there was a yandere in it, to begin with. TBH, we don’t care for spoilers at all. It doesn’t really ruin the experience for us, it usually enhances our excitement for it. We’re the type to go “slow and steady wins the race”. If someone ahead of the tunnel tells us the promised land is right up ahead, we’re even more excited about reaching the destination at our pace. Julie and I like to watch/read reviews about a piece of work beforehand and I like to jump to the back of a book to read the ending. Don’t mistake this as us being impatient, we’re more than capable of putting our attention span on something if we want. We just want to decide if it’s worth our attention or if there’s something more valuable. We’re not much the type to believe “the journey is more important than the destination”. If the destination is a trash fire, then no amount of “journey” doesn’t make up for the effort put in. It’s like burning money.
Now, what we hate is when the person giving the spoilers is smug or being a piece of shit about it. “Oh my god, you want to watch that? Then you have bad taste in movies. Here are the reasons why.” Or “Oooo, you’re going to watch this? Then, man, you’re going be so bummed out when HE dies. Huh? You want to know who I’m talking about? No no, it’ll ruin the show. Just watch it. But man, you will be absolutely ruined when he does THIS. Lmao, you want me to tell you already? Then beg for it.” Just tell us. You aren’t special for knowing an ending, millions of people who read or watched the same thing have the same knowledge of it. Smh.
Overall, Julie and I don’t particularly care about knowing or not. Unless it’s someone asking for a review... then you especially have to spoil it for us. If we’re surprised by it, cool. If we already knew about it ahead of time, cool. Either way, we would enjoy it.
