Basically, I think the magical girl genre should take another page out of the mecha genre's book and prescriptively divide it between "Real Magical Girl" shows (Madoka, Yuki Yuna) and "Super Magical Girl" shows (Precure, Symphogear). This would make the discourse virulently worse, and I personally hate the fact that it's the former category which would get called the "Real" one in this system, but them's the breaks I suppose.
