Somewhere New EP - 5 Seconds of Summer

I thought it would be fun to start out my 5sos CD collection journey by sharing the first piece of physical media they ever released! I did not buy this CD when it originally came out in 2012, I bought it very recently, at least within the past 3 years or so. I have no idea where I bought it from if I'm being quite honest, I found this copy on a random website so there's a full possibility it's a reprint/bootleg copy. Either way, I'm glad I own it. This EP has 4 tracks on it, my favorite song is probably Beside You. I actually prefer this version over the Self Titled re recording, but that's just me. Overall I have a lot of nostalgia for this project, especially the quirky liner notes that were obviously written by them, it has a lot of charm that I find endearing. Let me know your opinions on this project! I'd love to have a conversation about it :)

Sounds Good Feels Good - 5 Seconds of Summer

Didn't realize how long it's been since my last post, I should've done this in October for the 7 year anniversary! I'm doing it now, so that's all that matters! This is an important piece of my collection here, it's one of the first CDs I ever got for myself! I remember begging my parents to take me to target so I could get this the week it came out, and I felt so lucky to be able to afford it (barely). As you can see, this copy is quite beat up since I used to carry it everywhere with me even though I had no way of listening to it since I didn't have a walkman or anything. I would carry it around school in my MCR Hot Topic jacket pocket and bug anyone who dared to ask me about it lol. The crack in the jewl case has fully split in recent years, and I try not to carry it around anywhere now so I can keep it safe.

This record has some of my favorite 5sos songs ever! Jet Black Heart is an obvious stand out, but more deep cuts like Safety Pin, Fly Away, and Airplanes have really stuck out to me in recent years. I still think the Duran Duran sample on Hey Everybody! is pretty rad, despite the controversy it caused at the time. The Girl Who Cried Wolf is probably one of the best songs they've ever written as well. Don't even get me started on Outer Space/Carry On.

I actually remember doubting whether I really liked this album a few years back, since it had been awhile since I'd listen to it and I was afraid my fanboy obsessed brain had remembered the songs wrong, so I popped the CD in to listen and I was blown away all over again. I understand if it's not for everyone, but it's one of my favorite albums of all time! I could probably talk about this record for days, I remember listening to every song as soon as it dropped and watching out for music videos like it was my job (I will never forget having to watch a guy spray paint a wall for 3 hours to find out what the lead single was gonna be). 5SOS5 (Deluxe Edition) - 5 Seconds of Summer

I wanted to wait on making another 5sos CD collection post until the new album was out and I got the new CD! As soon as this arrived in the mail I knew I had to film an unboxing; apologies if it's a little awkward with the lack of sound and such, this was my first time filming something like this so I'll work on getting better!

This record has been growing on me more and more as the days go by! I'm always going to honest on my page, so when I say I love this album, I'm not exaggerating! I really appreciate the U2 inspired guitar riffs mixed with the more modern production, it gives the album a very unique and modern sound without losing that unique 5sos sound that I really love. Michael and Ashton taking more of a lead in the vocals on multiple tracks is just amazing, and Calum's songwriting will never cease to make me cry and hit me just in the right spot. Luke is one of the best leading men in the industry right now, and I think he should be praised more for it! My favorites songs are definitely Easy For You To Say, Bad Omens, Me Myself and I, Take My Hand, BLENDER, and Caramel. I really recommend this record to anyone, I think there's something for everyone to enjoy on here :)
