Presenting Alpha-17 being the cool dad older brother by telling stories and instructing the CC Batch (plus Rex and Baby Boba) on how to out-sass any Natborn they may encounter!
I was re-reading my CC Batch hcs posts (yes I re-read my own posts, I have the memory of a goldfish and re-reading my own shit makes me branch off in fun new ideas) and I had a thought.
og hc: Once Rex is adopted into Cody's batch, that makes him batch baby. the youngest. and Bly, the previous batch baby in my own personal au, is a prankster trouble making litttle shit of a youngest brother and would have DEFINITELY taught rex the power of vod'ika tooka eyes.
especially once they learned Rex can't lie for shit. so if Fox can't teach him to talk his way outta of the crazy shit the little fucker gets himself into, then Bly can at least teach him to "Cute" his way outta it.
new thought: but that got me really thinking. What would the 501st reaction be to seeign this in action for the first time. like imagine you are a soldier in Torrent Company, working directly under Captain Rex. you know him has a steady, confident, serious even when aproving or coming up with crazy strategy ideas. Hes stern when he needs to be, but also cares a lot. Rex is probably admired and respected SO FUCKING MUCH by his troops.
and then they have a layover with the 212th AND the 104th AND the 187th. nothing major, a quick re-fuel and in person debrief among generals. and then events that are borderline unbelievable unfold before your eyes. you witnessed it and still believe it might all be a hallucination, because you just watched Captain Rex snarl and attack, tackling COMMANDER WOLFFE! you don't know what started the fight but it is brutal. and the Captain is holding his own and then some.
your worried its something series, that you might have to step in to back your captain, but then Commander Ponds pulls at Captain Rex, and Marshall Commander Cody pulls at Commander Wolffe and demand to know what the FUCK is going on.
And suddenly, you watch a scene unfold that is both disterbing and endlessly entertaining. you cant look away. because Captain Rex. Captain. Rex. just slumps in Commander Ponds arms, sniffles! and says "I- Im sorry Pondsy, Kote. It's just been a rough couple of campaigns and then Wolffe just took my snack and-" and the Captain, your Captain just attacked a Commander over a ration bar, and now you are watching said Captain, always strong, always steady, play the other two Commanders like fucking fiddles, with wet lashes and the strongest pair of Tooka-eyes you've ever witnessed.
Wolffe is yelling about "batch baby privledges" but he can't do much more since, technically, the Captain didn't lie about anything. never mind that a black eye and broken nose is probably over kill for taking a ration bar, because Commander Ponds and Marshall Commander Cody are now glaring at Wolffe and hearing non of his complaints.
then Rex, now standing behind Ponds and Cody as they lecture Wollfe, turns to the stunned and speechless Torrent/501st members watching it all unfold, and the fucker smirks, and has the audacity to wink at them.
your entire world view has just been fundamentally changed, and all you get as compansation is a fucking wink.
Time travel Au
ahsoka, rex, fives, and echo all get sent back to rex's cadet days, not long after he was adopted by cody's batch
its goes... interstlgy
the cadtes are stressed, the time travles are confused, and 17 is 2 sendonds away form punching someone
(also,, little rex isn't too upset, he just likes crying to get cody's attetion (he gets in tourble for it a lot, buts itf fine bc cody is there))
(also, i dsaw someone say that instead of saying 'ika to younger cloens, they would say 'ca and 'tu as those words mean far more to them then mando'a words, and i rlly like that hc)
i have no fucking clue what I'm doing but here's some shebse batch/cc batch as posts
I just thought about my hc how none of the cc's know how to cook because. Why would they. And neither does Seventeen and it's a learning curve for him but damn it he's not gonna let that stop him.
But. Then I had a thought. Baking. Baking is not necessarily easier, but it comes down to a math a lot more than cooking does.
So now I'm just picturing Seventeen making sourdough bread and all the cc's just gathering around and staring at the loaf in the oven like

NEW FIC ALEEERRRTTT
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Fox-centric, gen, everyone lives (post temple bombing arc) fix it AU, CC batch feels, hurt/comfort (read the tags tho you have been warned)
Summary:
Fox had been wrong about Commander Tano, had almost gotten her killed, had driven her out of the Jedi Order entirely. Fox had cost Rex a dear friend, a little sister, and he knew Rex would be angry. He knew Rex would hate him. Of course he would, or at least…that was what Palpatine said.
Read a fic yesterday where Fox was the youngest of his batch instead of the oldest, and honestly not only is the idea cute but also hilarious. Especially if you buy into the “Rex was adopted into a CC/Cody’s CC batch” fanon. Both Rex and Fox are hypercompetent on opposite ends of the spectrum, and would probably bicker so much for no reason other than they can and younger brother syndrome. Every time they argue in the batch chat someone else always responds “baby on baby crime”.
Fox: Tell Rex about the birds and the bees.
Bly: Wait, no he’s still a bab-
Cody, having watched a documentary with Obi-Wan the night before: They're disappearing at an alarming rate.
