This episode of Africa Incorporated starts in raw Hip Hop energy before easing into alt soul, house textures, and deep soul records. A natural progression that shows how rhythm, message, and feeling stay connected across generations and sounds.
What’s good, everyone? Just got back from an epic road trip through Poland, starting right here from Mnichovice, CZ, just south of Prague. If you’re looking for a mix of history, nature, and some unexpected surprises, this route is where it’s at.
First stop was Náchod, CZ, where we checked out the stunning Zámek Náchod. The history and architecture here are something else—definitely worth the visit. Then we crossed the border into Poland and hit up Minieuroland. We expected cool mini replicas of famous European landmarks, but what really blew us away was the squirrel habitat! These little guys were running wild in their own jungle, and we got to feed and play with them—definitely a highlight. They also had some chill bird enclosures filled with exotic birds that added to the peaceful vibe.
We stayed overnight in Szczawno-Zdrój, just outside Wałbrzych, at a dope spot called Dworzysko. This lodge had it all—big chess, horseback riding, a mini amusement park for the kids, mini golf, and bike rentals, all surrounded by nature. After recharging there, we headed to Książ Castle, which is simply amazing. The castle’s history, especially the underground tour about the Nazi secret bunker, was super intriguing. The gardens and horse stables added to the majestic feel of the place—definitely a must-see.
Next, we cruised over to Świdnica to check out the Church of Peace, an all-wooden Lutheran church that’s just jaw-dropping. The tapestries, gold art, and the unique history of this place make it a real gem. The fact that it’s surrounded by walls and tucked away in a peaceful community adds to its charm.
Our journey continued west toward the Poland-Germany border to Castle Czocha, perched right above Lake Leśniańskie. The castle and its grounds were a bit different from the others, with trails leading down to the lake where you can take boat tours and soak in the landscape.
Before heading back home, we made a stop in Jelenia Góra (Deer Hill). This city has a cool vibe, especially with all the deer statues scattered around, showing deer engaging in human activities. One of the best spots was Schaffgotsch’s Palace with Spa Park right behind it—a perfect place for a peaceful walk.
All in all, this road trip was the perfect intro to exploring Poland. We saw some amazing sights, learned a ton of history, and got to enjoy nature at its finest. As always, you can check out all my photos from the trip on Flickr at Flickr.com/chuckdiesal/albums. Road trips are where it’s at—there’s no better way to connect with the land, see the world, and share those experiences with y’all.
Peace, ChuckDiesal
