They rarely visit the same place twice. Q can take them literally anywhere in the universe, and Jean-Luc is an explorer by nature. Though they learn the hard way that some destinations are a bit overwhelming for humans (visiting the heart of an atom, exploring the space between dimensions,…)

Some of their favorite destinations are: supernovae, Risa, a sentient planet in the Gamma Quadrant, Earth’s 19th century, the nothingness floating over a star cluster, nebulae, Paris (France, Earth)…

26. Why do they need to have a serious chat?

Gosh, where do I start? Depending on how far into the relationship they are… there are several serious chats to be had. The obvious one is about trust. They need to learn to trust each other, completely, and I think that takes a lot of time.

And then there’s the unpleasant subject of Jean-Luc Picard’s mortality.

“Don’t tell me,” Jean-Luc always says. “I don’t want to know.”

And he really doesn’t. He doesn’t want to know when it will happen, or why, or how, or what there is after. This puzzles Q - yet another way Jean-Luc manages to surprise him. Humans have been obsessed with death ever since they started walking the Earth, and yet when presented with the answers this wonderful man refuses to listen.

“I have to die, Q. I can’t live forever.”

But he can, just a snap of Q’s fingers and Jean-Luc Picard can be immortal. Q doesn’t understand. He asks, again and again, he asks every day, and every day the answer is the same. “I can’t live forever.” Why not? “Because I don’t want to.” But why? “Because I am human.” And that’s what it is, really. Q can give Jean-Luc immortality, but he will always be human.

Human. Defined by life and death. That’s Jean-Luc Picard. Incapable of being anything but human.

Q doesn’t understand this - doesn’t understand why it’s so important to Jean-Luc. I think they need to sit down and talk about it.

I don’t ship them, personally, but I could see how people would. I haven’t seen season 7 yet, but I suspect Flambeau will make another timely appearance! ;)

Life on Mars!!! I’m currently rewatching it (I’ve seen it once before), and it really is amazing, isn’t it? The premise is so original, and there is so much to explore there!!! The music is amazing, Annie is too good for all of them, I love confused baby!Simm Sam Tyler, and my Simm spiral continues! :D

Welcome, human. Enjoy your stay. Yes, this is my ask blog. I am humbly lending my knowledge to the lower species simply because I am bored.

As for the answer: It is not only human to be depressed. The Q depression can be quite… destructive. Don’t mind me accidentally forming a black hole while writhing in self pity… That’s why the other Q in the Continuum are always there for the ones in need (not only to give solace but also to protect the multiverse, you know).

And as for humans, I think you should see a counselor of some kind. Or this ‘friend of yours’ should.

Don’t create a black hole of the depression. And whatever you do, seek help before you fall beyond the event horizon.

Actually that’s episode 5 “The Darkest Noon” . This is episode 6, “The Sacrifice of Tantalus” and it’s been confirmed that Goodfellow gets shot and has to be in the hospital (not sure how serious it’ll be though).

So we’re gonna have two super intense back-to-back Mallory angst episodes. (At least we’ll have the weekend to recover. Can you imagine if they’d swapped the order and we had to watch them on consecutive days?)

Oh man, uhhhh... probably Disneyland Date? Every time I think about it I get embarrassed, but I refuse to delete it because it’s a part of my writing history. If I had to get rid of something, though, that would be the first to go.

1. New Year’s Eve aesthetic. Black and gold and silver and things are shiny and shimmery like champagne bubbles, sweet and warm. Balloons everywhere, friends cheering, a midnight kiss. A gown with gilded stars embroidered into the lace sleeves, a clear and shining moon as fireworks explode above the roaring night.

2.
