I'm all about nonbinary people using the terms lesbian, gay, or straight for themselves (I use lesbian and trixic, together.). The problem starts when binary people impose terms onto us.
A relationship between a woman and a nonbinary person HAS to be lesbian. Even if the nonbinary person in the relationship does not see themselves as a lesbian at all. Same for a relationship with a man and a nonbinary person, the nonbinary person MUST be comfortable with being called gay. When two nonbinary people are together, they don't get called enbian or cenelic, instead, binary people make terms up, even when we already have ones.
This seeps into fictional relationships, where a relationship between a woman/man and an enby automatically gets sorted into into yuri or yaoi, or even "yaori" (which doesn't acknowledge the nonbinary identity, nor what would made sense in japanese.)

I get that gay men/veldians and lesbians can be nonbinary and some are also attracted to nonbinary people, but as a cenelian can you at the very least stop tagging nblnb if your post is about a (binary) man or woman please

with deltarune chapter 5 having recently come out and more food for ships coming out in said chapters (kralsei, krusie, krusielle, kriselle, and even kerdly) i would like to remind you all that yuri and yaoi are gendered.
i have made this post before and i will make it again. yaoi means boys love and yuri means girls love and i don't care how you try and excuse it, they are gendered terms and using them to describe a ship with a nonbinary character is nonbinary erasure.
the correct terms are trixic for nonbinary/woman and touric for nonbinary/man. additionally, cenelian is used for nonbinary/nonbinary. we have words for this stuff, please use them. stop erasing nonbinary characters genders based on how they present or who they're in a relationship with.
i understand if you didn't know about these terms before. they are fairly niche and im not accusing people who don't know any better that they are purposefully erasing nonbinary characters genders, but please learn about these terms and correct people on it.

Gay — A term for people who experience attraction to their own gender, genders similar to their own, and/or otherwise experience queerly gendered attraction. This attraction is often exclusive, but does not necessarily have to be.

Etymology — it's complicated
Flag Symbolism — This flag is intended to be gender inclusive. It encompasses gay people of all genders, regardless of which gender(s) they are gay for. The stripe layout was inspired by the sunset lesbian and ocean gay flags.
White represents inclusion, and was chosen due to it being the combination of all light. Beyond this, the flag is divided into two sections: cool colors and warm colors. Cool colors are placed at the top, with warm colors placed at the bottom, to make it more distinct from other flags. Each stripe has its own meaning assigned to it.
The cool stripes have the following symbolism:
Purple represents community. The color was chosen because it is similar to lavender, and is visually appealing. Lavender represents diversity. The color was chosen due to its association with queerness. It also coincidentally represents diversity in the final pride flag Gilbert Baker made. Sky blue represents progress, and the idea that the sky is the limit.
The warm stripes have the following symbolism:
Yellow represents joy. The color was chosen because it is a “bright and happy” color, like the sun. Grapefruit represents strength and survival, even through hardship. The color was chosen because I felt that it conveyed this idea well. Pink represents love and/or attraction. This color was chosen due to pink’s cultural associations with these things. The warm colors have a somewhat pink tint, due to the association pink has with the LGBTQ+ community.
To distinguish my flag from other gay flags, it can be referred to as the "candy gay flag" based on its bright, candy-like colors.
