Another TV Show Review No One Asked For: Luna Nera Edition

You know the meme that says “They had us in the first half, I’m not gonna lie” that’s I how feel about this show. The last episode ticked me off in many ways.

I’m not against it, but it was weird to hear music playing in English after hearing everyone speak in Italian for like ten minutes straight. Also, I’m not against modern music being played in period era shows, but it has to be done correctly. This show did not do that.

Umm….the names for the characters were a little weird considering the time period the show is set in which is 17th century Italy. Leptis, Persepolis, and Tebe, sound like they belong in an Ancient Rome setting. I don’t know, those names just sound out of place to me, maybe there were women who were named that.

Can we all agree and say the Benandanti masks look incredibly stupid. Especially the black wig thing attached to it. If they just wore the mask by itself I would find it a bit scarier.

Maybe it was just me, but the romance between Pietro and Ade fell absolutely flat. There was no chemistry between them, at all. I mean Ade and Persepolis had more chemistry together than her and Pietro (looking at you bathing scene in episode 2). But yeah them chemistry was as stale as a piece of bread. Props to them for trying though.

Staying on episode 2, how did Ade forget the Book of Kingdoms? Ade, you were on ground not fighting you could’ve grabbed it.

The reveal of Ade’s mother being disguised as her grandmother was a mindfuck.

So, I know we’re supposed to hate Cesaria because you know she’s selling out her fellow women by being a witch hunter. But goddamn was she not a badass in that tavern brawl. Your girl was kicking ass and taking names.

Speaking of Cesaria and Pietro, come on guys, lets be honest here, they have better chemistry together. And the tavern scene was a confirmation of that. The kiss (although it was drunken) between Pietro and Cesaria screamed passion.

Pietro’s first thought after his mother’s death being “hey, let me join a murderous hate group to soothe my sorrows”

Why are the Benandanti suddenly okay with Father Oreggi doing magic? Is it because he’s a religious figure and his “blessings” are not magic in their eyes? Literally no one batted their eye, I guess they all just agreed that magic is okay…..but only if they use it though.

How does Pietro still not believe in magic in the last episode? He literally watched multiple instances of magic being performed right in front of his eyes and was even affected by a spell Tebe did.

The dancing scene at the festival was ridiculous. The dance moves were so…bad.

I don’t understand how Pietro is mad at Ade for killing Sante when his father was strangling a child, Valente, to death. Not to mention he beat Spirto, his friend, within an inch of his life.

Valente is a girl now I guess….I don’t understand the mother’s reasoning behind it for real.

I need shows to stop giving us plot twists about characters that are “The Chosen One” only for them not to be by the end of the season (looking at you The Letter for the King).

It literally makes no sense for Spirto to join the Benandanti….

Cesaria was the biggest “pick me” in the 17th century only to see Spirto take her spot and she got paid dust in the end.

Ade is a demon????

Once again these are just my opinions and the observations I noted while watching the show. To me, I enjoyed the show up until the last episode. It could’ve been better is all I’m saying.
