I love Ruffys Nickname for Cavendish, is it really that stupid? Because the joke wouldnt work in German, he just calls hin "Kevin". (Which is a name with negative associations, its like calling him a moron :D)

Oh it’s completely stupid! Cavendish’s name is rendered as キャベンディッシュ/kyabendisshu in Japanese, so Luffy shortens that and calls him キャベツ/kyabetsu which means ‘cabbage.’

Luffy’s trying very hard to get his attention onto something else but there’s a lot of irony here considering what happens throughout this arc.

Anyway Barto definitely has the right idea to just kind of...chill on the sidelines while 100+ people just take each other out before he needs to get involved.

An awful lot of these chapters are just straight-up brawls that throw so many new characters at us that my head starts to spin after a while. I realize that it’s important to set up what happens at the end of the arc, but it’s very hard to...know who we’re supposed to be paying attention to or how we’re supposed to feel about a lot of them. At least Hack gets to name-drop Jinbe and obviously has other relevance outside of this moment because of his affiliations, but the same can’t be said for a lot of the characters we meet here.

Naruto Ch 707

Just a few passing not-terribly-spoilerish thoughts:

- Much as I wanted Yamato left out of this whole business, I can't deny how pleased I am to see his haggard worn lovely face again despite it all.

- Suigetsu.  Juugo.  A flash of Karin.  Even young-again Orochimaru.  Strange how even when I'm going 'uuugggghhhh' over plot and such these familiar faces still bring a little drop of joy.  Seeing Danzo just mentioned is like 'Ah.  Yes.  ^_^'  And Sui still makes the best reaction-faces. <3

Chouchou is really pissing me the fuck off.  Sarada kind of is too, but I have more sympathy for her concerns because they're at least founded in some kind of logic.

I cannot bring myself to care overly much about this whole Shin cloning business, but I am relieved that the Shisui theory does not appear to be panning out.
