Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 111
There are a few more battles in the manga than there are in the anime-- Evergreen taking out a group at Kardia Cathedral and Bickslow taking out fellow Seith Wizard Nab, for example. I like this series of panels specifically, because it just really shows the scale of the carnage and how one-sided it all was.
In the anime, we hardly see Bickslow in action before his battles with Gray then Lucy, and we certainly didn’t get a wide shot of just how many people were scattered about the city like this, all taken out like the dead.
This just sells the horror of the ‘Fairy Cannibalism’ conflict and the stakes, as well as the power levels of the Thunder Legion, so much better than the anime.
Another color spread!
I love how the bottom panel of Nami is so much bigger than the last panel of Zoro, almost as if the weight of what she’s saying is crushing him.
If it’s been awhile, I recommend reading this chapter in its entirety, if only because it’s hilarious to see Nami push everyone around to get her way. It’s interesting watching these early crew interactions play out after becoming more familiar with the current state of the manga, where Nami is still manipulative but not near to the same extent she was early on--especially when it comes to people within the crew.
And people have the audacity to say One Piece doesn’t have character development
