Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 184+186

“She’s one of you, so you should be protecting her” is reflected in both of them here and I love that. I adore that it’s the two characters that are new to the guild saying this in Edolas, because back on Earthland, it was Natsu, Gray, and Erza saying this for the others.  

Most of all it’s coming from Lucy and Wendy now, two characters of which we’ve seen on screen get hurt or betrayed by people that are supposed to love and protect them, (Lucy’s father, and Mystogan essentially ‘abandoning’ Wendy.) 

Also, I love the touch of the blood here in the manga. Really makes it so much more heartwrenching when the Exceeds reject and jeer at her and all she cares about is Carla.

Ch184 (p5), Putting down new roots

Baldo knows he can never get back what was lost, but he’s finally found something new to live for. Something else to protect.

And now the flashback for Baldo is complete. He had spent so much time full of hatred and killing just about whatever came his way, while Ada had dealt with her losses by helping others heal.

What’s next for Baldo and Ada? Will they fight each other, or will Ada switch sides and help him?

Who’s soul is Ronald slated to collect? Maybe multiple souls there. Will he choose to give anyone a shinigami pass?

Well, this is the end of the chapter. Next month, I expect we will see Lau again. Hope he doesn’t screw things up. We still don’t know what ulterior motives Lau has for even agreeing to this assignment…. Whatever goes down, there is likely to be death. If not there, somewhere else (but because if this) and coming up very soon. Why else would a reaper be planted there?

I’ve never really processed how ridiculous Mr. 4 gimmick is, but it’s hilarious that he uses his gun-dog to shoot explosives at himself so he can bat them at his enemies rather than cutting out the middleman and just aiming at his opponent directly
