In Search of Kindred Spirits - Chapter 3
Hi folks, welcome back for chapter 3 of In Search of Kindred Spirits. We have one more chapter after this to go! I don't have much to say on this chapter other than here we get to see Danny's search through the zone. But have fun everyone, and as always feedback is welcome!

Work on Chapter 3 is ongoing and I'm pleased with the way it's starting to come together a bit more now.

The start has been rewritten to come together from Bob's perspective more and the chapter should hopefully be ready for upload next weekend.
In the meantime, here's a preview of the chapter art:
And a short extract from the WIP:
Captain Mitchell had been waiting at the landing pad with the EMT's when the SAR chopper landed, racing after them on his motorbike when they had immediately been whisked off-base across the Coronado Bridge to the Naval Medical Centre on the mainland. The ambulance carrying them had blown through every intersection between there and North Island, lights and siren blaring their way.
Robert hadn’t seen Natasha since she’d been taken in for her own evaluation and while he knew she was in the safest possible hands, he'd still felt concern constrict his heart. Gossip between the two nurses assisting the Naval Flight Surgeon checking him over after the accident had clued him into the fact that Maverick was refusing to leave until he had seen them both and that he'd wanted an update the moment they were both out of their exams...
...Moved into a room with three other beds - all currently empty - the Montanan had just gotten settled when voices outside of the door and a short knock soon after, heralded the arrival of his commanding officer. Maverick stepped into view, asking for permission to sit with him and when Bob gave a small nod in affirmation, the elder man quietly closed the door behind him and pulled up a chair near where the backseater lay. He started by advising that the medical personnel were still discussing the best course of action, but that he was glad that he and Phoenix had both made it out safely - the Captain’s tone had still been that which the northerner had grown accustomed to these last few weeks, one of confidence and experience.
But, as he'd moved on to speaking with Robert and not Robert the naval aviator, it was as if a layer had been peeled back. One that offered the smallest glimpse of the man behind the myth and legend.
“How are you holding up, Lieutenant Floyd?” the decorated pilot had asked, his voice now affected with a gentleness in it, one the Operator hadn’t heard before. It had caught him off-guard. Even his visit in person had.
At first, he hadn't been sure how to respond, the flight surgeon had earlier all but fired him an eye roll at his insistence that he ‘felt fine, aside from being a little battered and bruised’. But, as Maverick’s gaze had remained trained on him, waiting patiently for a response, he'd decided he’d better give some form of reply and had decided on an honest one. After all, Bob had never been a good liar and the very notion of it was something that made him uncomfortable. It just didn’t sit right with him, even where it was done with the best of intentions. Better to say nothing at all, in his book.
“Truthfully, sir,” the backseater had begun, pausing for a moment to gauge how to answer the question - after all, he'd had no idea how Phoenix was doing and didn’t want any remarks he gave to be used against her, “-Real sore and a little dazed, seems they’re concerned I might’ve a concussion. Other than that, I’m feeling pretty tired.”
Maverick’s eyes had moved to the window for a few quiet moments, his head dropping to regard the floor briefly, seemingly digesting the words of his candidate.
“I’m not going to tell you not to worry about her, because that would be a lie.” Captain Mitchell had finally spoken - shifting slightly in his seat until he was leaning forward, elbows propped off his knees. His hazel orbs had then returned to the bed-bound officer, knowing full well where the other man’s thoughts were, “Natasha’s doing okay for now, but like you they want to keep her in overnight. What happens next is up to both of you. I won’t judge whatever decision you come to, Lieutenant.”
Bob had sat silently, struck dumb that he’d been seen through so easily. At least he’d been straightforward with it, he'd noted to himself.
Did Maverick know?
Chapter 3 update!
Hi, hello, I swear, Chapter 3 is in the works. I am a chronic procrastinator (and a chronic pain haver, that does not help, lol) and have been doing everything but work on chapter three, so I just wanted to say it is coming!
And if you want to read more from me, I am most likely (if I have enough spoons). Going to be doing Batfam week (@batfamily-week), so yeah! I will post the fic links on my main blog, @royal-illusion-loves-his-fandoms
TLDR: I am working on it; I just have been busy doing other things!
Mind Games: Trepidation Chapter 3 Update
WOWIE ZOWIE, IS THAT A FULL CHAPTER 3 UPDATE?! HOLY SHMOLIE!
Let’s get it!!!! WOOT: https://dashingdon.com/play/bottlecaprabbitgames/mind-games-trepidation/mygame/
WORTH IT
Pairing: VegasPete
Rating: Explicit
Summary: Pete’s an Omega who got a surprise bundle of joy after a steamy one night stand at an exclusive club in downtown Bangkok. He doesn’t remember the handsome Alpha who fathered his child—the club was dark and they’d both been a little too tipsy to grab numbers after a mind-blowing time together. All Pete has to remember the Alpha by is the all-too vague memory of his intoxicating scent and a tiny baby boy with a death glare that can cut through mountains when he doesn’t get his way.
It was the best night of Pete’s life, but was it worth it?
Our One and Only Update
Heyo sweets! I’m working on chapter 3 and if everything goes to plan, then I should have it up sometime this week or next!
Chloè Bourgeois’s Guide To Proving The Class Rep Isn’t A Selfless Angel
A very special thank you to @thedeathofablog for being amazing and absolutely saving me. I have a track record of giving up on stories after the second chapter because of how confused I get, and I’m glad I had someone helping me out this time. It doesn’t hurt that they’re... quiet eccentric.
And @breeeliss who is a ray of sunshine for the Chlonette in the fandom. I hope you’re having a good day.
Here is, finally, the next chapter.
Find it on AO3.
