So, here’s the thing.

When I start a new player character, I leave them baby-faced and normal, as you’d expect someone pre-war to be (I use Start Me Up so they’re not necessarily a combat veteran, yay actually getting to choose my own backstory!).

Then as I go around the Commonwealth doing my usual heroics, every so often I stop by Diamond City and change up my character’s face to reflect the increasing wear and tear of the Commonwealth life. Tats, scars, burns, all that stuff. All of it starts off at 100% opacity and I gradually fade it a little with every subsequent visit. This is what Cole Deckard, Sole Survivor, looks like at level 65.
