Day 2- Zach Addy
Day 3- Vincent Nigel-Murry
Oh my heart. I still cry when I think about his end!
To get on to the point of the post, in my heart of hearts, Vince has ADHD. He is full of useless facts that he impulsively spurts out. He talks very fast and sways and fidgets. He had an issue with drinking and lying. He has rejection-sensitive dysphoria (worried that Dr. Brennan doesn't think he's good enough). He's mentioned having anxiety which is a very common comorbidity with ADHD especially if it's untreated. In my opinion he's a wonderful example of a character with ADHD that isn't a ditz or an impulsive student with bad grades.
Clary (Nephilim with ADHD pt. 1/?)
art credit meabhd
tl;dr: clary had inattentive adhd, which is common in girls.
traits
inattention (duh): presents as being never-quite fully there, easily distracted, and prone to daydreaming. countless examples in tmi, though primarily in the first 3 books.
hyper-reactivity: people with adhd (me too) can have seemingly exaggerated emotional responses to things, either lots of enthusiasm over small things, or seemingly random angry outbursts or crying. ("clary, short, redhead, bad temper?")
impulsivity: lack of impulse control, not thinking before rushing into things. do i need to elaborate on this one or can we just acknowledge she's extremely impulsive?
disorganized: clary has a stark contrast with jace in particular, who is immaculately organized and neat whereas clary exhibits poor time management, messy personal space, and frazzled appearance sometimes.
rejection-sensitive dysphoria: this is a phenomenon where neurodivergent people feel an almost-physical pain at disappointment or rejection - take for example her reaction to seeing jace with aline in city of glass or her storming out of the club in city of fallen angels.
attention outlets: people with adhd tend to be very creative, sometimes stemming from "needing something to do with (their) hands," like doodling, drawing, etc. i don't need to explain this one for clary.
as someone with inattentive adhd, i definitely see some of my traits in clary's behavior. but this is all speculation!

IM IN SEARCH OF A BOOK. IF YOU KNOW THIS BOOK FROM THE LITTLE DETAIL I GIVE YOU PLS REBLOG OR COMMENT THE NAME.
ok so the main characters name is aaron i think?? i could be wrong. he has adhd (its a very big part of the book and a critical detail) and he constantly skips class to hang out in the cat walk in his theater class, but one day he' s paired up to show the new kid around and they become like,, best friends. i know thats not much to go off of, but again, if you think you know the name of it, pls dont hesitate to tell me it. i read it once in middle school and i want to re read it !!
I do like the show Good Girls, but I have to admit, I have Opinions about the way characters were flipping their shit at the thought that a 2nd grade boy might have ADHD (he’s a class clown, “That doesn’t mean he’s DEFICIENT!”) and treating acting out as a potential symptom. Opinions are had.
But combine that with Annie’s MULTIPLE, depicted as lifelong, ADHD symptoms and how she’s consistently shamed for being a hot mess who can’t get it together, and throw on a *child psychologist* shaming her for symptomatic behavior (“why bother trying if you know you’re just going to fail, so might as well just set up for that to begin with”) and STILL not putting it together and I have LOTS of Opinions.
(Apparently tv psychologists and psychiatrists suck as much as the real ones when it comes to adult ADHD, Linda Martin doesn’t recognize Lucifer’s, and that dude is like a walking infographic for an ADHD brain on the hunt for stimulation, with emotional dysregulation and some epic-ass rejection sensitivity thrown in. Neither Watson nor Mycroft ever catch it in Sherlock Holmes, either, and this is a man who does cocaine when he can’t get high on crime solving, ffs, goes from obsessed with a case while working on it to not giving a damn as soon as its solved, and solves them by rapidly contextualizing and synthesizing a bunch of details most people don’t think of as important, while being a wee bit of a social dipshit. Original Conan Doyle Watson/Mycroft get a pass for temporal reasons, modern adaptations can go sit in the corner.)
