Sharing some Uni work again yey!

This is Mizpah, she was cursed to be a cat cuz she was a Muslim who fell in love with a Christian. Classic dating shenanigans.

(Basically my uni put me in a group, gave me a fairytale and told me to put it in a different genre.)

More visual development below going thru all the iterations I did getting to the finished design :3

First iteration:

This was more of a horror approach as my genre was supernatural horror. The original story we worked from used fabric to describe her (velvet fur, Pearl eyes), so I took that literally for a bad taxidermy type of look.

Art Style Test (and more iteration):

My group decided Mizpah shouldn't look like an enemy so she's the only design I did that didn't have horror elements to it. I used a porcelain figure as reference so the gold detail would show a sad expression rather than her literally frowning.

Final shape iteration:

Using Islamic wedding dresses for reference I came up with these. A lot of the design works through proportion; big eyes and a big head make her look younger, so I shrank the head and went for mediumish sized eyes to make her slightly more mature looking. The older look is so she's not too cartoonish.

Colour iteration:

The fairytale is called the White Cat of Ecija so the fur had to be white, but the veil was also white to show purity. Then gold was used to show her wealth, she's the daughter of a mayor. Then blue is an accent colour to represent her sadness of being parted from her lover and stuck in the curse.

Finally after 3 different designs and 24 hours of incontinuous work - she is finally finished!

This character has gone through so many different designs, see her now, i hardly recognize her!

Valera Raeburn is a Tiefling artificer. She is trying to find a cure to the disease she equivalates being a teifling too. Spurred by her irrational obbsession, she is growing desperate to find a cure, and is starting to look at... less savory means to achieve it....

It's time I start doing some original work! 🤣🤣🤣 probably gonna do three of these first just for experimenting.

She's like a humanized version of the bird but I made her a bit like a princess. Red-whiskered bulbul is one of the types of bird I really love! They're pretty and they have beautiful singing voice. A couple of them also live near my house!

I'm not sure if I like how this first one turned out but it was fun to design 🤣

Still don't have a name for her though
