Welcome to my Tumblr

My name is Stef Allworth and I am a science communicator in the small country of Austria. As we like to say: In Austria there are no kangaroos. Though I'm not sure how this statement will hold up with climate change.

I finally officially finished my chemistry studies with a MSc at the technical university in Vienna, but I'm thinking of continuing my scientific journey in the area of science communication.

I've been on Tumblr for over 15 years, but have always tried to keep it separate from my work stuff, so here I am starting a new account in the year of 2026. I feel a lot of stuff I do, will find people who enjoy it here, so here I am.

Not sure yet which language I will stay with, but for now, English just feels right.

Thanks for following a queer neurodivergent chemistry nerd - I hope to be able to show you stuff I am fascinated by.

Eine offensichtliche Diskrepanz zwischen den Vorgaben für den Leistungskurs Chemie bringt die Bildungsverwaltung in Erklärungsnot. Auch in a

Berlin macht schon mal Abi im Sachsen-Anhalt-Style.

Leider hinter Paywall und (wie meistens beim Tagesspiegel) nicht ins Archiv umsetzbar. Aber der Beginn ist ausreichend aussagekräftig.

• Gönülle: “Bir elementin dönüşümü, bir hakikatin sırrıdır.” İmam Cafer es-Sâdık’ın öğrencisiydi. Gönül gözüyle bakıldığında, onun ilmi bir manevi arayıştır.

• Akla: “Kimya, evrenin dilidir.” Asitler, bazlar, damıtma, kristalleştirme gibi yöntemleri sistemleştirdi. İlk laboratuvar düzenini kurdu, deneysel bilimi başlattı. Atom teorisi üzerine düşünceler geliştirdi.

• Bilime: Kitâbü’l-Kimyâ, Kitâbü’l-Zevk, Kitâbü’l-Mîzan gibi eserleriyle modern kimyanın temellerini attı. Yaklaşık 300 eser kaleme aldı. Avrupa’da “Geber” adıyla tanındı, eserleri Latinceye çevrildi. Simya ile kimya arasındaki geçişi sağladı.

• Bilgiye: Câbir bin Hayyân’ın mirası bize şunu öğretir: Gerçek bilgi, hem maddenin hem mananın özüne ulaşır. Onun kalemi, sadece yazmadı; elementleri anlamaya çağırdı.
