My bannerfall apo and cherri x slay the princess designs!
This isn't the actual milestone art peice but might as well post the designs I've been working on for it
| finished milestone project here |
Plus a traditional doodle ↓↓
This scene absolutely broke my heart. I honestly thought they were finally going to become canon this season… and honestly, in my heart they ARE. And I’m really happy we got to see Husk so in love but NOT LIKE THIS. The way he looks here… so soft, so tender, with his heart literally shattering as he watches Angel with zero hope left… walking away… Husker, my love… 😭💔
New characters I made based off of my keychains I made :) The lizard's name is Ui and the Balloon dog is Cherry
Had to draw @cherrifire and @apokuna happy before my soul is crushed by them being doomed
Give me a fight I can't resist. Give me something to break with my fists-
(This took 2 hours and 25 minutes)
I'm OBSESSED with @cherrifire 's new skin, so obviously I had to draw them. I actually locked in for our warrior princess <3
(Version with no text below the cut!)
A headcanon that I've always wanted to explore but never got past the base idea was like...
Charlie, fundamentally misunderstanding sinners and their needs is a well established part of the show and cannon. She has no idea that some of the decisions being made by characters are either long standing addictions from life, something that has been specifically crafted as a punishment and they are dependent upon, something that protects them from the hell they are in, or something that they can't just Not Do.
She doesn't see the strings around people, or understand how people could 'choose' to do some things. Because I think the first time she was ever truly in danger was the fight with the exorcists, and what a wake up call that was.
How could someone take drugs? How could they kill someone? How could they choose to hurt someone below them to gain power? Like, this flies over her head because they are all things she's been sheltered from and provided a specific narrative for.
Lucifer gave an apple and then Evil happened. Except, the idea of Good and Evil are so black and white to her that it really blows up in the faces of all she tries to 'help'. And I don't really feel it's altrustitic... not in the way Charlie thinks it is. She's carrying on her mother's work and trying to take it further.
It's like when you have a middle class teen volunteer at an op shop for the first time. They might automatically discard donations that aren't 100% near mint, where someone who has been on the poverty line might see a functional thing with a mark or faded patterns on the cup etc.
And I think the key thing about Charlie, and now Sera, is that they don't see Sinners as people with individual hopes and dreams. They care because there is a potential for sinners to be redeemed and Become something worthy (Winner).
Why can't they be worthy without redemption?
That's a huge gap in her philosophy that I am hoping they lean into in the future because this young demoness is missing her intentions by a mile. Like, making Angel go cold turkey and demanding he just Not Go to work when that means extreme violence and cruelty above and beyond the norm? Taking away his one coping mechanism without weaning off? That's actually cruelty.
I know she has no idea how domestic violence and abusive relationships work, but like, how can she see the situation with Val in the studio and then cry about how sad SHE was for causing it? It's frustrating. She's frustrating. But that's the point of a naive character, you want to throttle the fucker until the common sense clicks in place.
---
So, this was a circular way to look at what else she might try to put in place to 'help'.
Stopping niffty from cleaning because her textbooks say it might be feeding obsessive compulsive needs for the maid? Not realising how this would take away an activity that helps her stay 'sane' and grounded, because of her own traumas? (That's how I've characterised the behaviour at least).
Getting her Dad to enchant the bar so Husk can't drink, without even thinking about the effects of going from perpetual drinking to stone cold sober on his body?
Banning the eating or storing of sinner parts in the hotel, and being very pointed Al can't have anyone over For Dinner? Not having a clue that the cannibalismm part for Rosie, her people, and likely Al is very much an insatiable hunger that they constrain with societal niceties and this is about to go very bad?
Enforcing the no drugs rule out of nowhere on Cherri, which works about as well as it did Angel?
Imagine her cheerful but comes off condescending smile as she tells them its for their own good. Even though these were humans who had whole lives (maybe not as long as they could have been) before they fell here, and some are older and more mature than she is... being treated like errant kids.
The frustration and restraint wearing thin, in a way Vaggi can see and try to address with the Princess, as Charlie continues on about her new plans to remove the bar... employ imps and hellhounds for the cleaning staff to help niffty, to ban baxter from doing anything unethical in his lab... etc.
No one just drinks to excess or gets black out on drugs for the hell of it over a full lifetime unless there's something to escape from. It's a maladaptive coping mechanism, yes... and it's something there is support for in the real world, but the worst thing people can do is go cold turkey or have it shut off with no alternate supports in place. Can straight up kill someone if they've been using for years (even alcohol) because there's a dependence.
How many times does a sinner in the hotel have to die of deprivation before Charlie gets it through her head?
Would she, even?
Charlie has a terrible habit of centering everything on herself, how she feels, and how things make her feel. For example, the literal almost trainwreck of Angel and the Vox situation at the hotel where Charlie placed her desire to get him redeemed to show she wasn't a failure, over and above Angel's comfort and trust, and pushed him way too far.
Not even counting how she threw Angel in the trash the minute Pentious arrived.
And the shitty plays she wrote as Roleplay... my dude, if I could have pushed her down the stairs...
I want to see the fallout from her taking these things from sinners, blindly grasping for things she thinks will work. The steady decline or immediate descent into madness for the sinners in her hotel... like, imagine it.
husk stopped from drinking after years. Does his sinner form REQUIRE it? Angel's seems highly dependent on substances. Both follow on from their lives and it would be the kind of cruel irony that hell would inflict.
Niffty being held back from cleaning as a kindness, but nothing is given to fill the void in her head full of things that the cleaning helps her tidy away or push aside (I want more niffty lore dammnit, I can feel there's something fucked up in there and she deserves kindness, and a new blade).
Alastor slowly losing his calm as he begins to starve, losing control like Rosie and the cannibals do, without at least a glass of sinner blood to satiate the eternal hunger. Never cleared if he was a wendigo or a not deer, but they like human flesh so...
Vaggi seeing it and not able to get Charlie to listen.
Charlie branching out to Help her dad with his duck obsession, banning the creation, until he starts to lose his fucking mind. Millennia of torment and disconnection from the fabric of the universe, and the loss of lillith and the hope for the world, and Charlie's love, and, and, and... he can barely hold himself in the tiny body he is forced to inhabit on this plane.
Will she see in time?
