Young Justice S1E14: "Revelation"

Ah, the Injustice League! Such iconic versions of the characters, too: Count Vertigo, Poison Ivy, Black Adam, Wotan, the Ultra-Humanite, the Joker and... one sec... googling sounds... the Atomic Skull! All completely recognizable as who they're supposed to be! (in all seriousness, it's kinda weird they double-dipped on Superman and Batman villains. And for all that I love Brent Spiner I don't think he's good as the Joker; and the stiff animation style does him no favors in terms of the normally-boisterous supervillain. Though there is something to having the Joker be Just A Guy™, and at least one joke ("Wonderboy, you are mine!" said in an imitation of Wotan) does land with me)

It's a good episode, and in the case of the Light, this misdirection actually works to further their nebulous goals, because it's not like victory was just given to the League or Young Justice out of hand. Kinda wish there had been more character moments or stakes (Kid Flash yelling at Doctor Fate for taking Kaldur was nice) but sometimes a good fight is all you need.

report writer: linda park (gained super speed after recreating the accident that happened to flash to investigate what happened at star labs. she joins titans by claiming she wants to learn how to be a better hero but really… she wants to know their hero identities & uncover who the flash Really Is. will she use her connection to the hero world to figure out their identities or will she learn to be the hero she claims to be?) replaces wally west

redeemed hero: chesire (“saved” by roy harper. she initially refuses to work together with the titans but the more they live with each other, the more she thinks twice about not corporating. can she move past the path she believed she was destined for? or will the titans efforts be in vain?) replaces roy harper

the bow and arrow: speedy (the one that “saved” chesire. lots of people teased that he only joined bc he had a crush on kory but really… he wants to help chesire. and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to aid her. he thinks being with ppl their own age would help them adjust and fit in) replaces donna troy

Young Justice S1E13: "Alpha Male"

What a cringe name for the episode, in hindsight. At least there's a gorilla so it's not all bad.

Rob Lowe as Captain Marvel is honestly genius casting. He has such an air of insistent earnestness that easily translates to being a kid in a big body. And Captain Marvel is a fun presence that both helps the team excel, and causes problems on his own.

It's interesting that the team almost immediately fell apart from the reveal that Aqualad was keeping secrets from them. Ordinarily I'd think it fairly juvenile, but given these are kids, it made a kind of sense. It provided a stressor for the team to overcome and grow closer together, and for Kaldur to continue to grow as a leader.

The Brain was a bit of a letdown. He's not terribly threatening (because I know Captain Marvel will resist his evil laser) and his design isn't all that striking. He also can't emote as much, which is a problem that was solved later for My Adventures with Superman. He's just... meh. Monsieur Mallah was as good as he ever is.
