I'm back in Children's Services at a different branch and going through their stuffies and puppets to see what animals I can pull together for There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. There's a set of farmyard animals that includes a donkey, so now I'm considering adding a new verse:

There was an old lady who swallowed a donkey-- That crazy old honkey, she swallowed a donkey!

Should I sing this song in my PreK Storytime?

Busy morning at work.

there’s just two more weeks left of this session of story times, and then in a few weeks we start Spring sessions and I get to come up with the themes and all activities on my own.

For Books at Bedtime my themes are Leprechauns, Bunnies, April Fools, Stars, Earth (day), Rain, and Flowers. I’m really excited for these but also kind of nervous. This group ranges from 18 months to 5 years which is really difficult to plan and since no registration is required you never know how many kids you’ll get...

Stories and Steam is a little older (6-9) and we focus more on activities then on “Stories” so I love that one. My themes for next session are Math Magic, Animal Tracks, Coding, The Solar System, Recycled Art, Water Cycle, and Flower Art. (I don’t have to but I’m trying to make themes match up somewhat for both programs in the week).

I love it, but it’s really difficult. If I have any childrens librarian followers, please help direct me on good resources! Thank you!

I had a parent quietly ask me if we were having any “problems with all that book banning and censorship nonsense” during my desk shift today. When I told him thankfully not yet, he started complaining under his breath about fascism.

A five, maybe six year old white girl came into my library today and said, "I want to study black lives matter" so I handed her Michael S Bandy's "Northbound: A Trainride Out Of Segregation" and Ibram X Kendi's Anti Rascist Baby to get started.
