Chowder on twitter: when you write about ottawa making the playoffs in your fanfiction can you include the san jose sharks in that as well? ottawa centaurs and the san jose sharks if it's not too much trouble thanks guys

I made a post a few years ago talking about the fact that chowder had probably been drafted before he started Samwell, which led to some fun speculation about his sharks love and who he was actually drafted by. But recently I found out he actually turned 18 in October of year 2 so that means that he wouldn't be draft eligible until 2015 which is funny for like a million reasons.

Chowder reasons:

- potential for him to have to switch his team loyalty around after his freshmen year causing a major crisis

- getting drafted by the sharks and driving everyone else insane

- old school draftee shenanigans of him saying something on Twitter (or being quoted by bitty) against his new team that is going to get him memed for life (i.e. Charlie mcavoy's "I hate the Boston bruins" tweet)

- smh draft watch party 🥺 someone is going to cry about it. Someone is going to be really embarrassing on Twitter.

Actual hockey reasons:

- he's... Part of the 2015 draft class 😭 like THE draft class of all time for a lot of people (including me, sorry not sorry). The mcdavid-eichel-strome-marner-werenski-rantanen-konecny-kaprizov draft. BONKERS.

- I know a lot of fandom doesn't like to acknowledge real hockey players for various reasons but like enough real players are mentioned that I think about it a lot! The fact chowder quite possibly played in the usntdp or other juniors/international things with like eichel-werenski-tkachuk-matthews is a fun idea.

-- (I think in the comics it just says that chowder went to private school which.... Could mean anything from a regular private school that had hockey, a Hockey School (like Shattucks st Mary's), or like a private school near a juniors team. Room to extrapolate.)

- for all that the 2015 draft class is seen as being an insanely deep draft the one thing it doesn't really have is a stand out goalie (several of them are starting goal tenders now, and adin Hill does have a cup and is good, but there's no one like crazy talented yet - goalies develop later tho than skaters so still time for one of them to go absolutely sicko mode)

- that draft is in fucking Florida 😭 they took first rounders on like a swamp tour. Lawson crouse ate a worm for $100. Chowder probably wouldn't be a 1st round pick but I want him on the boat tour anyway I think it'd be FUNNY.

as promised. list of chowders bay area-isms as written by someone who’s lived here my whole life

-“hella” “gnarly” “dank” or “like” in every sentence. sometimes all

-“lightweight” used interchangeably with “low key” . i.e. “i’m feeling lightweight ass right now” abbreviated in text to lw

- says “the” in front of the name of a highway. “i had to take the 17” or “i fucking hate the 17”

-hatred of highway 17 . god i fuckinf hate the 17

-loves in n out . non negotiable.

- has a strong opinion about what is/isn’t part of the bay area. (no, san jose and santa rosa are not.)

- hates socal and socal drivers. if people in the bay drive like maniacs no they don’t ❤️

-SF is The City . will argue with nursey that it is not NYC

-oakland is The Town. he will not clarify

- “yeah no”=no “no yeah”=yes .

-if he’s feeling saucy, will call the bay area the yay area.

- yack/yak instead of puke/barf . “someone get on nursey patrol before he yacks”

there’s so much more but to keep this from becoming just a list of bay area slang . i will leave it here for now but know there’s more…
