A little out of the “color palette” for my page, but wanted to share the pic of me yesterday regardless. lol
Yesterday while making my way around Charleston (Charles Town), I also stopped by Sullivan's Island. It was here that Captain Stede Bonnet, after escaping imprisonment in 1718, fled to and camped out for nearly two weeks with a spyglass affixed on the horizon waiting for Christopher Moody's ship. He was however re-captured, and Charles Town militia hid about the island in canoes assuming the pirate Moody and his crew would stop here for fresh water before assaulting Charles Town. He ended up doing neither. Off the coast of Sullivan's Island is also where the unnamed pirate/slaver from Madagascar anchored off the shore in 1685 due to being blown off course from a storm, leading to him introducing rice to the newly established Charles Towne as thanks for a place to stay while his ship underwent repairs.
