Family man (Going to church)
My favorite Uchtdorf story in honor of his latest flight stimulation:
"Several years ago, President Thomas S. Monson and I were offered an opportunity to tour Air Force One—the magnificent aircraft that transports the president of the United States. There were painstaking security checks by the Secret Service, and I smiled a little as agents searched our dear prophet prior to boarding. Then the pilot in command invited me to take the captain’s seat. It was a remarkable experience to again sit at the helm of a wonderful flying machine like the kind I had flown for so many years. Memories of flights across oceans and continents filled my heart and mind. I envisioned exciting takeoffs and landings at airports all over the world. Almost unconsciously, I placed my hands on the four throttles of the 747. Just then, a beloved and unmistakable voice came from behind—the voice of Thomas S. Monson. “Dieter,” he said, “don’t even think about it.” I’m not admitting to anything, but it just may be that President Monson read my mind."

blackberry's upcoming endowment + my thoughts about it
i don't usually do these sorts of posts but this is important to me so we're doing one now.
TW: religious stuff, christianity, etc.
So! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and something that we folks do sometime after we turn 18 is we get our endowment in the temple. It's a ceremony where we promise to do certain things and God promises other blessings back. And... I've decided to do mine! It is tomorrow and I am not usually excited about stuff but I am definitely excited about this!
My thoughts, more specifically... in no particular order
it is AWESOME that you can get garments of any type no matter what your sex is. I really didn't like most of the female garments but I found mens' garments that were SUPER comfy and I'm just really happy about that
there are. SO MUCH CLOTHES you have to get. I went to the store for that and it took like an hour and a half because you have to get garments, a temple dress, AND ceremonial stuff to go over the temple dress. pfsfsdf i do not like shopping and that was a concentrated blast of MUCH shopping
speaking of which although the garments you can get whatever, if you're female you have to get a dress, you can't do a suit like the guys have. idk why can't we all just wear gender neutral angel robes? I would enjoy wearing angel robes. but nope we have to do dresses instead and most of the dresses available really were not my thing
fortunately I did learn that you can find other styles of dresses in other places, especially Utah. So next time I go to Utah for whatever reason I'll definitely be taking a look at those haha
I'm inviting a bunch of church friends to come. I'm honestly more excited about this than my baptism, which happened when I was eight, because BRUH. I don't remember any of what happened when I was eight, except that the water was cold and the talks took a long time. but now I'm old enough that I can like. appreciate it. I invited people I actually like, not just people my parents wanted to come. This is on my own terms, without anyone else making me do it, and that's a certain kind of freeing for me.
So. that's tomorrow. we'll see how it goes. I hope it doesn't snow haha
GENERAL CONFERENCE HYPE
Headed to the first practice session for my church's annual Advent/Christmas carols service. Almost no matter what's going on in my life, this single event brings me immeasurable joy every year.
Just want to set this right here . . . I used to have a subscription to the VOM magazine. VOM stands for The Voice of the Martyrs. It informed of the persecution of the saints across the world.
One cannot wholly serve God without having some sort of a global view.
- The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. - Psalms 33:11
- And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. - Matthew 28:18-20
- But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - Acts 1:8
It is for us to reach the lost (not save the world) but to reach those who will be saved and communicate to the infirmities of others who are in Him. Salvation does not call for us to become humanitarians but to simply be God's servants
📖 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. [18] Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, [19] that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. [20] Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. - II Corinthians 5:17-20

They’re K*lling the Last Christians in Syria—And No One Cares
This hymn just slaughtered the entire congregation.
And here I thought I had it bad when I was being a right terror at the breakfast table and my mom flipped my bowl of oatmeal right into my lap.🤣(I did not have to finish eating it.)
my school was INSANE okay, like the stories I could tell! The crimes committed! oh my GOD!
They had a special section in their handbook stating that if they so much as suspected you were "homosexual" you would be forced to meet with the youth pastor until he believed you'd been healed. If, after a certain period of time, he still believed you were gay, you'd be kicked out. Like, what the hell was that place???
