You can absolutely like to participate it general group readings for fun or like to give them, but a serious conversation needs to be had about discernment in the tarot community.
I know some people aren’t from the spiritual community and just love to participate in tarot, whatever. But there are some ground “rules” about this stuff.
It’s starts with being real with yourself. carrying a certain accountability and deep trust within yourself. If you are the querent, the person getting the reading, or simply picking a card it’s important that whatever you’re listening to or reading resonates with you. If you’re reading a PAC or listening to a general reading it’s important that you’re actually relating to it, otherwise the reading is not for you.
When I first started getting into tarot and spirituality, the people who were well seasoned always said “ take what resonates and leave what doesn’t”. I wanna break this down a little bit.
If in the middle of a reading you realize it’s not relating to you in any way nor does it match up with your current situation, don’t try to make it fit. a well fitting reading will always feel just right. You will feel absolutely sure about it. If at any point you don’t like or agree with the reading then it’s not for you.. but with that being said, let me get into being honest with yourself when it comes to readings
You’ll know a reading is FOR YOU because you’ll feel it. all that doesn’t resonate is literally back ground noise.
To be extra clear, when something is for you, when something resonates with you, it’s not something you are straight up wishing for, it’s something that is actually happening. Something that has materialized in the real world. You can be wishing for something, it can be resonating and it can be a reality, but there is a difference.
There’s a difference between intuition and wishful thinking. This is where knowing yourself becomes your true anchor.
Intuition is your 6th sense, sort of stemming from the other 5 you already have. It’s a feeling or knowing from a spiritual standpoint which strengthens over time and the more you use it.
Wishful thinking can sometimes be from subconscious influence. Maybe you’re really hoping for an outcome and believe it’ll come to fruition, but there have been no actual signs that confirm it. There’s nothing in reality that has actually rooted that wish. For example let’s say you haven’t dated in a while or you’re missing some excitement in your life concerning relationships, you have a dream that your ex partner is in. Then later in the day you come upon a general reading that says “your ex is coming back”.. would you automatically believe it or brush it off?
I feel everyone is capable of self awareness. Life can be rough sometimes but if you are avoiding something in the back of your mind that needs to be addressed it will come up in a reading or somewhere where Divine is present.
If you are genuinely looking for an answer and can’t find one from general readings, the answer is always in you. I’ve been told by experienced tarot readers that if no one can read you, it’s time to connect with yourself and do your own reading.
To go more into whether you brush off the general “is your ex coming back” reading, you’ve gotta look at what’s actually happening in real life and not what’s going on in your head.
You had the dream, okay what’s next? What was the dream about, what happened in it? What was the theme, meaning what were people talking about/what did you say?
What POV were you in? Were you watching it like a movie or were you an actor?
And now for real life. What type of relationship terms are you on with your ex? Are you on speaking terms? How did you end? Are you blocked or are they blocked? Are they in a relationship?
These are the types of questions you ask yourself to decipher truth from wishful thinking.
Intuition will never have you questioning or doubting yourself. If the answer is yes then it is yes. There is no ‘maybe’. ‘Maybe’ leaves room for confusion, and if there is confusion the truth is vacant.
So like I said there is an inner knowing within yourself that you just trust. If there’s a rock in your pocket and you know the rock is there, would you doubt yourself? Or are you 100% sure the rock is definitely there? With intuition, there isn’t any doubt. But if you are doubting yourself because of lack of trust and self assurance, it’ll become a problem for you, especially with readings. Trust in self isn’t just about confidence. It’s about truth. Even if it’s an ugly truth. If you want true resonance from any reading, it starts with being honest with yourself in order to get exactly what you need from a reading. Not what you want to hear.
And shit, if you don’t want that at all and just want to use general readings or PAC as something to escape your reality, that’s absolutely fine but you make sure you pick readers who specialize in the whimsy and fantasy of tarot and not the readers who are here for the growth of the collective.
Most of all, I think for any general readings, PAC, or group readings, you have to make sure you actually like the tarot reader. Energy is everywhere. I feel it’s a sacred thing. So if you come upon a post or a video, tune into how you’re feeling about it. Not anything about how it looks or anything surface level.. I mean energetically. How does it make you feel? Again it’s all about inner knowing. If you feel negatively about it or you just have an inkling that it won’t make you feel good, that’s your sign to not listen to or read it. We have the free will not to consume anything we don’t like. It is consciously your choice if you interact with something or not. That’s what discernment is. You can absolutely tap into all the readings you want for fun but if you aren’t consciously tapping into your intuition or protecting yourself from energies that aren’t currently compatible with you, that’s cannot be anyone else’s fault. We know in the world there are some things you should stay away from. Things we absolutely should protect ourselves against. This is no different.
Lastly I also wanna point out that just because you get the feeling that you shouldn’t energetically connect with a reading doesn’t mean the reader is a bad person. Sometimes, it’s just about compatibility or timing or whatever else the universe decided. I think of it like finding what is just right for you. Like Goldie Locs, or finding the right therapist, or finding new friends that stick, you know?
