Recently I’ve been struggling with identifying as an alcoholic. I got sober 4 years ago. Went to rehab for 30 days. Haven’t drank since.

Some days I feel like I didn’t go through enough, I didn’t lose enough, I didn’t get close enough to death.

But I did. I suffered abuse, I lost my mother to this addiction, I lost my whole life and suffered health consequences.

I don’t think you need to suffer a certain amount to accept yourself as an addict.
