Enjoy the classic flavors of tiramisu with this rich and creamy ice cream. Rich espresso, coffee liqueur, and mascarpone cheese come together to make a tasty frozen treat that tastes like a popular Italian dessert.
Ingredients: 2 cups heavy cream. 1 cup whole milk. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 4 large egg yolks. 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder. 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese. 1/2 cup ladyfinger cookies, crushed. 1/4 cup chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish.
Instructions: Over medium-low heat, bring the heavy cream, whole milk, and half of the sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Whisk the egg yolks and the rest of the sugar together in a bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Pour the hot cream mixture into the egg yolks slowly while whisking all the time to temper the eggs. Put the mixture back in the saucepan. Cook it over low heat while stirring it all the time until it gets a little thicker and coats the back of a spoon. Take it off the heat and mix in the coffee liqueur, vanilla extract, and instant espresso powder until everything is well mixed. To get rid of any lumps, strain the mixture into a clean bowl through a fine mesh sieve. Add the mascarpone cheese and mix it in with a whisk until it is smooth. Put the bowl lid on top of the mixture and put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or until it is completely cold. After the mixture has been chilled, use an ice cream maker according to the directions that came with it. Add the crushed ladyfinger cookies to the ice cream in the last few minutes of being stirred. Once the ice cream is smooth, put it in a container and freeze it for another two to four hours, until it is firm. Add chocolate shavings or cocoa powder on top of the tiramisu ice cream before serving.
