Built on a high hill between Laigueglia and Andora on the Ligurian coast is Colla Micheri, a tiny medieval village where time seems to stand still. Perfectly preserved with a handful of residents, Colla Micheri is a must-visit for anyone who wants to get a feel for Italy in the Middle Ages. The houses are still completely keeping with the location, with only the odd modern door giving away. Walk down the idyllic alleyways amid the stone-built houses to get a sense of the remarkable history of this hidden gem. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Take a train from Genova or Savona to Laigueglia. It's then a 30-minute walk up to Colla Micheri, which is steep but so rewarding. A little tourist train does take visitors to Colla Micheri but only during the summer months and only on certain days of the week.
