if I had a nickel for every time star trek cast an 60+ year old women to play a character that had lived for over 400 years, i'd have two nickels which isn't alot but it's weird that it happened twice

shoutout to the art department for making Pelia have pop art of herself in her quarters
MARTIN QUINN as LT. MONTGOMERY “SCOTTY” SCOTT and CAROL KANE as COMMANDER PELIA Star Trek: Strange New Worlds s03e01 “Hegemony, Part 2”
I absolutely love finally seeing a technically talented person with tons of electronic junk just laying around who is a woman. But! What makes it funnier is that we know Pelia was not an engineer in the 1980's, when she claims the phones are from, she was just a hoarder. Oh, what a delight. I love that woman.
commander pelia, character of all time. she's 5000 years old. she's spent 200 of those years trying and failing to trip on LSD. she's a hoarder. she lives and works on a spaceship, the worst possible place to bring lots of priceless valuables. she's a genius engineer. she does not remember when phones were invented. there is a non-zero chance she knew andy warhol. the louvre won't stop calling her.
Carol Kane as Commander Pelia — Star Trek | Through the Lens of Time
After S3 E6 of SNW, Pelia will use the events of that episode to justify her hoarding.
"Commander Pelia, do you really need all that.."
"You didn't complain about it when my telephones came in handy when communications were fried"
