Summary

Thinking about Commander Stark-Rogers today, Steve who got to spend a lifetime with Tony. He throws himself back into Shield missions to keep himself from chasing Tony's ghost after his passing.

It’s ludicrous. Steve’s some guy he sucked off at a club, fucked over some artisanal chocolates until they melted into his sheets, and who bought him a painting he’s not sure he even understands but sometimes can’t stand to look at without seeing too much of himself in every single brushstroke. They’d gone out another time before Steve had to leave, to a pizzeria near Bucky’s apartment, the proximity making it impossible to ignore the siren call that was a night of letting Steve thoroughly devour him from the inside out.

Steve’s also considerate, though, and listens well. He’s someone who sent him a new, luxurious set of sheets in the mail as a replacement, with a note reading for your comfort and maybe mine. Really, he’s a bit of an asshole, but so is Bucky. He pushes away the thought that they’re perfect for each other, because he doesn’t need that mushy nonsense tainting this whole thing.
