Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
3 Hours Later
You crouched in the overgrowth surrounding the warehouse. You were about fifteen feet from the main entrance. The others (Tim, Dick, Jason, Damian, and Barbara) were surrounding the warehouse, still in the trees. “What can you tell is going on in there, Thunder,” Dick whispered through the com.
You tuned your hearing in. You heard what you assumed to be shipments, being moved around. Breathing, clattering of a clipboard. Tapping. “-sure thing. It is all ready to go when you get here. Three minutes? Yes, Mr. Cobra.”
You dialed back your hearing and responded. “Lots of product being shifted around. Machines whirling. At least a dozen people on the inside. Cobra should be arriving in three minutes according to the phone call I listened in on.”
“Hood, Red, and Bat Girl move in. Robin, wait until Cobra is inside the building and put a tracker on the car. Once the tacker is in place, join us on the inside. Thunderer, watch our backs.”
“Affirmative, Nightwing.” You responded. Why do we not just take them all out in one place? It will get rid of the drug and the one selling it. As your hand started to turn blue your breath picked up. “That’s not the plan Z, leave it alone,” you hissed.
“Do we have a problem,” Nightwing asked quietly.
“No,” you responded quickly as Cobra’s vehicle pulled up. “Cobra is here.”
From your perch your perch, you were at least eight feet above the main entrance of the warehouse. You had never seen this Cobra character before. He looked around as he got out and you momentarily stopped breathing as his eyes seemed to stare directly at you even though there was no way for him to see you with the thick foliage in front of you. You tuned in your hearing as he turned to a couple of his men. “Stay with the car, I have a feeling.”
He entered the warehouse and you silently cursed as four of the men surrounded the car, looking in every direction. “Men stationed at the car, all sides covered,” you stated quietly into the com.
“We need to get the tracker on the car,” Nightwing sighed. “We need a distraction.”
We can provide the distraction and take care of the four guys in the process, Zeus’ voice was excited. “Absolutely not. We will distract but not engage, Z.” How do you plan to do that? “Simple, we are going to draw them to the glowing blue light.” You tapped into Zeus’ powers and turned the glow on and off like a flashlight. When you were sure you had two of the men’s attentions, you let the light shine longer as you moved away from the spot you were previously in. You smirked as they followed after a few brief words to their colleagues.
“Nice work. Robin, place the tracker. Thunderer, slowly dim the light and get out of sight.”
You did as you were told and decided to hide in the branches of a tree as you watched the two men become quickly confused. You let out a soft sigh as they turned to go back to the car they had been stationed at. “Nice trick,” startled, you lost your footing. You hovered above the ground before placing your feet firmly on it. “It’s a shame I won’t get to study you. I need to make sure this whole process is as smooth as possible.”
“Cobra. I watched you walk into the warehouse, you did not exit,” you responded, feeling Zeus’ energy coiling in you.
“I am on the way,” Damian’s voice in your ear was of some comfort to you.
You had been backing away from Cobra, but felt something hard block your path. “Now you can see what my drug does to those who want it,” he said it so casually that it took you a second to realize that what you hit was not a tree.
May I now unleash my abilities?
“The fact that I am being tossed around like a rag doll gives you permission to use your abilities,” you snapped back. The air around you crackled as it became electrified. You aimed your strike at the mountain of a beast charging for you. The blast sent the beast flying through the air and you focused on Cobra who easily dodged your attacks.
“Very peculiar,” he commented before striking. Your footing shot, you tumbled down the hill. It took a second to gather your bearings and you only had seconds to move as the beast from earlier crashed onto the ground where you had landed.
“Do we have a backup plan, ‘Wing,” you asked under your breath, “because I am now out in the open.”
“We’ll round up who we can. Cobra won’t be going to his secondary location after this. Hood, Red, Bat Girl, take the inside of the facility. Robin, help Thunderer. As soon as I gather the information off of the servers, I’ll join the fight outside.” You dodged another attack and rolled your eyes as the men from the car joined in on the fight. You would easily be able to knock them out.
You saw the syringe in Cobra’s hand, mentally making the connection that it was the drug he gave the beast you were fighting. You didn’t think you’d be able to fight the current beast plus another one. You ducked under the beast’s arms and attacked Cobra. He smirked as one of his men closed in. He kicked you back and injected the contents of the syringe into his employee. Damian was working on the other three men and you cursed as the beast swung for him. “Move Rob,” you called as you stood in front of the new beast, using your strength to stop the attack.
Your planted feet dug into the ground, pavement rising as you pushed against the beast. You might want to move. You looked to your left, seeing the other beast charging towards you. “This is going to hurt,” you muttered. You found Damian fighting Cobra and sighed in relief. You tensed as the beast got closer. You gripped harder on the beast in front of you and turned him last second, to take the brunt of the other’s attack. The impact of the hit sent you flying into the car behind you.
Even with the abilities of a god, you weren’t as indestructible as your Amazonian sisters. You were still just as human as you were the day you washed ashore. The metal bit into your skin as you shoved the beasts away from you. You took a second to breathe, glaring at the two beasts as they got up. You jumped on the first one, planting you feet and using your strength to throw him up in the air. You flew above him, feeling the lightning flow through you as you made contact with his chest, sending him into the ground with enough force to leave a large hole in the ground.
You did the same to the second beast with the same results. You took a couple of long breaths as you released the tension in your body. They wouldn’t be able to get up and fight again. No man’s world villain could handle that amount of force. You turned to Cobra, seeing Dick and Damian fighting him. While he was distracted, you took off towards him, air breezing around you. You wind your fist back and put as much force into the punch as possible and sent him careening into his totaled car.
Dick and Damian both rose an eyebrow as you landed on the ground next to them. “He was very annoying,” you explained. Damian cracked a rare smile before walking over to Cobra.
“Remind me not to get on your bad side,” Dick laughed.
“You would have to try very hard to do so.” He walked towards Cobra and Damian as the others exited the warehouse with multiple prisoners.
Heads up.
A curse left your mouth as you were picked up seconds after Zeus’ voice went off in your head. This time, you managed to go through the wall to the warehouse as you were thrown into it. You heard multiple worried voices through the coms and you growled, ignoring your pain as you got up.
You darted out of the warehouse, aiming for center mass as you saw the beast turn towards you. The force of your impact caused both of you to fly in opposite directions. He flew into multiple trees before stopping and you were back at the warehouse wall. As the second beast rose from his hole in the ground, you jumped, bringing your clasped hands down on the top of his head as the lightning flew through your body. “Stay down,” you growled in annoyance. “And next time, if you give me a heads up, Z, give me more than two seconds to react.”
You received no response from Zeus and rolled your eyes. You gathered the two beasts, placing the power cuffs on both of them before turning back to your team. “Next time you deal with the monumental beasts and I will deal with the help.” A couple of chuckles left the bats.
“We’ll take that under advisement,” Barbara smirked.
___________
You winced as you took stock of your injuries. Multiple lacerations, lots of bruising, and the possibility of a few broken ribs. A knock on your door had you scrambling to put your shirt back on. “(Y/N), it’s Damian. Are you alright? You got thrown into a lot of things during the mission.”
You had to smile slightly at his concern. It was no secret that you both had taken a liking to each other. You both held similar views on life and you understood each other better than anyone else. You opened the door and let Damian in. “Only bruising and mild lacerations. Nothing I am not used to.”
You watched Damian look you over, trying to validate your claim. “I would be happy to help you treat any lacerations that you can not reach. I wouldn’t want them to get infected because you couldn’t clean them properly.”
You blushed slightly. There were multiple long cuts on your back from going through the wall of the warehouse that you couldn’t particularly reach. That would also involve taking your shirt off in front of Damian. He would not only see the extent of damage on your body, but your actual body. As if sensing how uncomfortable you were with the suggestion, he continued, “I could turn around and you let me know when you’re ready that way you have time to cover yourself and all I have to see is what you need me to clean and patch up.”
Your eyes met his as you saw red lightly tenting his cheeks as well. You took a breath in, giving him a small smile, “I would be grateful for your help. There are some longer lacerations on my back that I can not reach as well.” You continued to stare into his eyes as you said, “there is bruising as well, but it looks worse than it feels.”
Damian nodded and turned away from you. You carefully removed your shirt after a second of hesitation. You laid it neatly on a chair and paused thinking of the best way to cover yourself. Diana had introduced you to an article of cloth that women in man’s world wore to cover/support their breasts. Your royal attire did not require such an item and you only really wore them when dressed in ‘normal’ clothing. Not that you would even be able to put one on with the damage to your back where the clothing would sit.
You sighed quietly. You had never been this nervous around others. You had never been this nervous around Damian before. In Themyscira, it was not uncommon to see other nude bodies when wading in the water, or after a particularly nasty challenge. You were never nervous around them...but being in man’s world...it was different. He was different.
You finally decided just to lay on the bed, front down. You placed your arms in a way to cover your breasts from the side and took another deep breath. You cleared your throat, “I am-I am ready.”
Damian turned around and was momentarily stunned. Even with bruising and cuts littering your body, you were beautiful. His next thoughts were of how to make Cobra and his henchmen pay for placing the bruises and cuts on your perfect body. His eyes finally landed on your face, recognizing the deep red your cheeks were-he had been staring for a little while at you. He gave you a reassuring smile.
He stepped closer to the bed, eyeing your back. “Are you sure that this looks worse than it feels? I wouldn’t pass judgement on you if you wanted some mild pain killers. You took one hell of a beating.”
You craned your head to look at the young man as he began to wash the blood away from the cuts. “Honestly, I was taught to block it out. The only way to show others that you are worthy of the crown is to not show weakness. Pain is a weakness. Rule with a kind but iron fist. Always meet the eye of those you speak with or are making business deals with. No matter how much it hurts, you push on and lead your people. You show them the respect you expect and punish those that do not repay that respect. I have learned to acknowledge the pain and push it away. I believe the term your people use is ‘out of body, out of mind’.”
A small chuckle left his lips as he turned to your voice, meeting your eyes. “The term is ‘out of sight, out of mind’, but good try.” He turned back to your back as he used peroxide to disinfect your wounds. You tensed slightly as the peroxide burned slightly on the cuts. His hand rubbed soothing circles on your hip as he waited for the peroxide to do its job. “I was raised in a similar way. My grandfather was the ‘great’ Ra’s Al Guhl. He believed that the only way to rule was through an iron fist. Other emotions were weaknesses. I was taught from a very young age how to kill. Any time I showed weak emotions, I was punished. When I first came to live with my father, I couldn’t believe how weak he was. He didn’t beat the criminals senseless or kill them when I thought that was a good punishment. He was firm but kind, and I didn’t understand his ways. Slowly he and my adoptive brothers broke through my shell and taught me that to be a great leader, you have to show compassion. You don’t always have to act tough and hide emotions and injuries from everyone. You’re allowed to feel and that makes the best leaders.”
He was starting to put antibiotic cream on your back when he finished talking. You slowly turned your head back around straight and placed your chin on your hands, thinking about what Damian had told you. “I am sorry your childhood was taken from you in such a way. I did not fully start lessons in being a leader until I was ten. Before then, I was allowed to be a kid, have fun. After that, training took up my life. I was an outsider, and impure female. I was not Amazonian, my parents being from man’s world. As I grew into a young woman, I had more eyes on me than I had ever had. Everyone knew that after Diana left, I would be the heir to the throne. If I made one mistake, everyone would treat me as if I was not worthy of the crown whereas Diana was allowed to make mistakes and she was only ‘learning’.”
You sighed and shook your head as you belt the gauze being placed on your back. “I thought it all mattered. I thought that if I followed the training and did everything perfectly...if I remained serious about my responsibilities and made no mistakes that I would finally be respected and my people would accept me fully as one of them. I thought I would be one of them, no matter if I got hurt easier than they did, no matter if I was slightly weaker than them...if I showed them that none of that mattered, they would finally see me as part of their family, not an impure outsider.”
Another breath as more gauze was placed on your back. “I guess that does not really matter anymore. Look where my loyalty got me. I fully bonded with an ancient Greek god, was lied to my whole life about this powerful being, and am still an outsider with my people. It makes me wonder if I should even attempt to go back.”
Damian was suddenly in your vision, kneeling by the bedside. He hesitated before putting a calloused hand on your cheek. “I think you are an incredibly strong woman. Your loyalty makes you invaluable. Your sense of nobility makes me respect you-makes everyone respect you. The way you carry yourself is admirable and the way you grew up did make you a better person in the long run. We all learn from our experiences in the past. If you want to go back to Themyscira, I believe in your poise and self confidence and I would even offer to join you. If you don’t want to go back, I’ll support that decision as well.”
You leaned slightly into his hand with a smile. He matched it while running his thumb lightly across your skin. “Now, in order to keep the gauze in place, I need to wrap it. That will require you to get into a position that I can wrap around your back and front. I promise to be the perfect gentleman.”
You rolled your eyes as your cheeks burned with another blush. You nodded. “Would it be best if I stood up,” you asked.
“I think it would be best if you just raise yourself onto your hands and knees that way the gauze stays in place, but I can also reach around and wrap the bandages around you.” You complied, feeling Damian revert his gaze to your back. “That looks good. Stay still.”
It was silent as Damian went to work. As you felt him growing nearer to your upper back, you tensed slightly. “If you would like to stand up and reposition, I can hold the last pieces of gauze up until a bandage holds it in place. You would be able to wrap the bandage around your front and hand it back to me that way.”
You nodded and he allowed you room to get off the bed. You stood with your back to him. He began wrapping again, handing it to you. You brought it diagonally across your front going in between your breasts which was more comfortable than the alternative. Soon enough, Damian cut the bandage off and made sure everything was in place before handing your shirt to you. You slipped it on before turning back to him. “Thank you for mummifying me,” you tried to joke.
A smile cracked his lips, matching your own. “It was a pleasure to be of service,” he smirked.
You reached out slightly beforefore pulling back, biting the inside of your cheek before holding your hand out to him. “I ‘owe you one’, as your people say.” Damian seemed to pause before gathering the courage to lightly slap your hand away. He wrapped his arms gently around your body, easily covering your whole body.
Slowly, you wrapped your arms around him. His lips brushed the top of your hair in a kiss before he released you. “I’m glad you’re alright. I was worried with how much you were being tossed around.” He brought a hand to the back of his neck as he looked away from you.
You stepped closer to him. He towered over you, but you didn’t mind as you stood on your tiptoes to place a kiss on his cheek. “Thank you for your help and concern.”
____________
Four Weeks Later
I do not see why you are so against the thought. He is a nice young man. He comes from the blood of great leaders. It would make sense for you, a great leader, to be with another great leader. You have feelings for him, why not act on them? You rolled your eyes as you gravitated to the lounge of the cave. “That is not the way of my people.”
Diana fell in love with a man when she first traveled out to man’s world. He made her happy and gave her more reason to fight for the life of man’s world. It would make sense for you to follow. You sighed as you sat on the couch, not paying attention to any of the occupants of the room. “And when he died, she was devastated. She will outlive most of man’s world as I imagine I will considering you’re inhabiting my mind and body. I will not be devastated like she was.”
You are human. You might live slightly longer than the average human, but you will die all the same. Because of your biology you have the need for deep, meaningful connections. You have the need to reproduce. Damian Wayne is a prime candidate for mating and gaining connections. You ran a hand down your face. “You are a ray of sunshine today, Z. Please stop talking of my biology.”
“Your godly counterpart talking about your biology is what you’re annoyed about? I would feel like just having someone else in my mind would be the most annoying.” Your eyes traveled to the other voice. Conner Kent, the Superboy.
“Everything about Zeus is annoying, but I can not control the fact that he is bonded to me. I can try and control what he likes to converse about, so I can be annoyed at that. You and everyone else in this cave do not have to hear him talking constantly about whatever he finds amusing or wrong or annoying. He tends to constantly have something to say.”
“What’s it like having to share your mind?” Wally was sitting next to you on the couch.
You turned to him, thinking about the question. It wasn’t easy to constantly have a god in your head. It was actually quite difficult. “I do not think that we share the same mind exactly. There are some aspects we share but I believe we have two different minds. We have different beliefs and ideas. I control my actions, he makes suggestions. He is kind of like what you call a roommate. He has his wisdom. He has his ideals and his flaws. I have my knowledge, ideals, and flaws. Sometimes those match up with each other, but most of the time we disagree. Depending on how Zeus feels on the day I wake depends on what he talks about. He gets antsy if he has not used his abilities in a while and tends to continuously try to get me to go out and use our abilities. Today he is talking of my humanity and my ‘basic needs’. Yesterday he talked about the ways of the ancient greeks.” You shrugged with a small smile.
Today I have merely suggested good mates for a proper leader of the Amazonians. I would think that she would be flattered that I thought D- You stood quickly. “That is enough of that.” You couldn’t believe Zeus would try and tell others of his thoughts about your ‘proper mate’.
“The fact that a god is trying to set you up with someone is both horrifying and hilarious,” a light shade of pink dusted your cheeks as Damian entered.
“He is trying to meddle with something that is none of his business, nor is it of my people’s ways. If he has yet to notice, Themyscira is a tribe of all women and no men.” Your lightning bolt on your arm flashed a bright blue as if Zeus was disagreeing with you non verbally. “Wait, are you giving me the silent treatment Z?” You received no response. “You actually are,” you exclaimed with a laugh.
“TT, sounds like your housemate is being childish,” Damian smirked.
“I’ll take it,” you grinned.
______________
Two Months Later
“Alright. You are still getting use to the world so I have arranged for you to stay with Damian at Wayne Manor. I promise to not be long. Mother informed me that the information was important to Darkseid. I will be taking Bruce and Clark with me. Do not get into trouble in Gotham,” Diana stated as she grabbed her bag.
“You have told me multiple times, Sister. I will be fine.”
She went on as if she hadn’t heard you. “Damian and Bruce will be here in ten minutes. Bruce will come inside and your will join Damian in the car to go back to Wayne Manor. I will pick you up from there when I get back.”
You set a hand on her shoulder, stopping her and having her face you. “We have been over this at least ten times since you got the message from Mother. I will be fine. Damian and I will do our best to stay out of trouble. We know how to contact backup if something were to go wrong. If I am not mistaken, Bruce will probably have the other bats check on Damian and I while he is gone.”
Diana smiled at you, giving you a short hug. “I know, (Y/N), but I still worry about you. I am your older sister.” She walked towards the door as a knock sounded. “If we are not back in two days, or you have not heard from us in two days, gather the league and the young justice teams and investigate.”
As the door opened, you grabbed your bag, turning to see Bruce and Clark enter the apartment. “Do you think Darkseid will attack while you are on Themyscira? Would that be why you would not be back in two days?” You saw her tense and immediately you tensed. “I should come with you. I have cracked his armor. I can do it again.” The thought that your sister could end up walking into a trap without you made your skin crawl. She was your sister, you would never let her go into battle alone.
This time, she put her hand on your arm, making you focus on her. “I will be as safe as possible. There is only a slim possibility of Darkseid attacking. I will keep you updated, but I want you here in case you are needed. The League is down two heavy hitting members and a Bat, they will need your help in case there is an attack while we are gone.”
You glanced away from her, mouth firm. “I do not support your decision, but I respect it. I will protect your world and friends with my life.”
“From you, I would expect nothing less.” She pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Now, I believe Damian is waiting in the car for you. You should not keep him waiting.”
You nodded, walking towards the door. You stopped in front of Bruce and Clark. “If anything happens to Diana while you are away, I will kill you. Do not take this threat lightly.”
“We’ll do our best to make sure nothing happens,” Clark responded. You nodded again, walking out the door without a second glance.
_____________
You and Damian entered the manor, Damian carting your bag. He showed you to your room. “Since this is your first time here, I know it can be easy to get lost. I’ll be glad to show you to any room in the manor you like. Todd and Grayson should be coming over for dinner tonight before they go on patrol. Drake will be up for dinner then return to the cave to monitor everyone’s patrol. If you would like to go out on patrol with me tonight, I’d be glad to show you Gotham from a vigilante’s perspective.”
“I would like that,” you smiled, following Damian from the guest room and to the living room. He ushered you to the couch, sitting with you.
“Pennyworth will let us know when dinner is ready. We could watch television or whatever you’d like until dinner is ready.” Damian nervously tapped his fingers on his knee.
You smiled, looking down to your lap before looking back up at the man who had stolen your heart. “I would be content with conversation. I still do not understand the television and its weird shows.” Damian laughed at the face you pulled thinking of the shows on TV.
“We could do that. What would you like to talk about?”
You thought for a minute before turning to him slightly, tucking your feet under you to get a better angle. You lean your head on your hand and looked directly at Damian. “Why do you call everyone by their surname but me?”
Damian mimicked your position and placed his chin on the hand holding his head. “When I first got to Gotham to live with my father, I was not the most...pleasant person. I had a hatred for anything or anyone that I saw as weak. I saw Grayson, Todd, and Drake as weak. I guess, in a way, calling my brothers by their last names was a way to distance myself from those that I deemed weak. Looking back on it now, it could have been that I was distancing myself from them because I was afraid of getting attached to them. It kind of became second nature to call others by their last name after that.”
He smiled at you as he continued. “As for you, I met you and made a connection almost immediately. I didn’t even know your name yet when you walked onto the plane. I could tell you were uncomfortable once you separated from Diana, but you held yourself with such grace and power that it overpowered how uncomfortable you were. When I finally learned your name, you didn’t give me a last name. ‘Princess (Y/N) of Themyscira’. You adopted Diana’s last name once you left Themyscira but I only see you as (Y/N).”
A light pink dusted your cheeks as Damian’s words sunk in. You realized as you looked at him, that his cheeks were also a pinkish color. “I appreciate that you call me by (Y/N), it would feel weird to be called ‘Prince’ all the time. When I saw you and the others when Diana came back, I was nervous. That was the first time I had ever met others from man’s world. I knew Diana would not bring anyone that would hurt me or others but I could not deny the teachings I had been given since I could talk. But there was something with you that I could not help but feel at ease. You are the reason I believed in getting out of Themyscira. I knew you would help me adjust to man’s world.”
“Do you ever regret leaving?”
You chuckled quietly while shaking your head. “I had been wanting to track down Diana months before I knew of Diana coming back to Themyscira. It does help that I was curious about my parents. I wanted to track down information about them and be able to imagine what life with them would have been like. What kept me there was my blind loyalty to Mother. After learning of her deception and realizing that there was much I needed to learn, it made it easier to leave. At this point, I do not think I even want to go back. What is the point when you will never be treated as an equal?”
“But you can’t hide from it. No one will treat you as an equal if you hide away and don’t try. You were respected by many when I was there the first time. You had this natural charisma that wormed its way into the hearts of your sisters on Themyscira. Sure, you’re not pure Amazonian but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have their best interests at heart. Your mother wouldn’t have trained you to the extent she did if she didn’t have faith that you would be the next great leader.” You smiled slightly at his words. He had a point. You couldn’t earn respect if you didn’t try.
“Do you ever want to return to the League of Assassins?”
Damian winced at the mention of the League. “Not really. Sometimes I wish to return only to disband the League and try to fix what they’ve broken. It sounds stupid really, it’s not like I can erase all the blood that’s been shed by them or erase everything my grandfather has done in the name of the League. The League of Assassins are heartless. I don’t want to be a part of that. I quite like having a heart to be honest.”
You nodded. “While I understand your sentiment, you can not change the ways of the League if you do not return. If you do not like the ways of the League and you are an heir to the League, you can change their ways. I would gladly help you in your endeavor.”
You nearly jumped out of your skin as another voice broke into the conversation. “Why are you trying to convince Demon Spawn to return to Nanda Parbat?”
Both you and Damian turned to the new company. “I am simply stating that if he were to want to make the League of Assassins a force of good, he would have to go back. There is no way to control the League if you are not at its headquarters. It is much like Themyscira. If I am to rule Themyscira, I must be in Themyscira.”
Dick and Jason sat on a couch adjacent to the both of you. “Are you returning to Themyscira?”
“Only if Diana does not return in two days, Richard. And what is a ‘Demon Spawn’ and why is Damian one? Is there a demon inhabiting Damian? I could expel it.”
Damian was quick to place a hand on your arm, grabbing your attention. “There is no demon living in my body. You don’t need to try and expel anything.”
You were pretty sure that your face showed confusion. “Is that not what a demon would say to not be expelled from your body?”
Dick and Jason laughed full out, grabbing their stomachs. You were still confused. “(Y/N), there isn’t a demon in Damian. Demon Spawn is a term of endearment that Jason tagged Damian with right after Damian first showed up in Gotham. It fit him pretty well then. He’s mellowed since then,” Dick explained after his laughter died down.
You nodded, still slightly confused. “If you say so.”
