unfortunately after some considerations I've decided to push my Stella from Spiritfarer cosplay to a con I have in April due to not wanting to give up on details.
my con is in a week and I wouldn't have made it on time and be satisfied with the end result if I were to try an make it on time to the 8th of October.
so instead I'm going as Susie from Deltarune for the first day, and ofc, Frenkie from Knights Of Guinevere on the second day of the con!
and I'll keep working on Stella throughout the year so to make it on time to the other con I have!
Thank you so so much to everyone who liked my cosplay post!! I really appreciate all the nice messages in the tags :)
It was a challenge to to make and I’m really proud of it so I thought I’d make a post going into the details of how I made it (also so that anyone who wants to make their own impulse cosplay has some inspiration!)
So the main suit is a pattern I got from spotlight (Aussie craft store). I made the entire suit from the white fabric, then used the pattern pieces to make my own patterns for the red parts and sewed those over the top.
For the mask, I bought motor cycle goggles with yellow lenses on Amazon and used them as a base. The chinstrap is eva foam covered in red fabric and hot glued together. I added a piece of elastic and then sewed it to the goggles. This allowed me to wear the goggles on my head (they fogged up QUICK) while keeping the chinstrap in place
I traced the goggles shape onto eva foam and cut out the mask shape, which I - you guessed it - covered in fabric. I designed and modelled the earpieces and my friend printed them for me, I just sanded and painted them then glued them onto the mask. It’s held on by hooks and eyes that I had left over from making the suit.
The gloves are just some cheap ones that I cut the fingers off. I made the wrist and ankle straps out of eva foam and covered them in fabric, then glued them to a backing piece of foam with Velcro (I wanted to add the buckles but I didn’t have time)
^Smaller one is the wrist, larger one is the ankle
And for shoes, I made these shoe covers for my work boots (they make my feet look huge - good for comic accuracy). I just draped the fabric over my shoes and pinned and cut and sewed until it looked okay. I added elastic on the bottom and Velcro around the back to hold them on.
And my hair just looks like that.
So that’s it! Thank you again for all the love on the last post. This took so much work so it’s nice to know it’s appreciated :)
TKB Fit + More Cosplay Update
Ya'll seen the body progress pics but time for the stuff that goes ON and WITH the body update!
Did a mock up of putting together the Millennium Rod to see how it would eventually look without glueing it together just yet. It's an amazing print and can't wait to start priming! (If you're interested in your own Millennium Items @rosalind-hawkins can print EVERY single one for an amazingly decent price!) Only problem I have as of right now is how loose the sheathe is with connecting to the rest of the rod but I'm going to attempt to use a similar fix that us model builders use to tighten old/loose joints on our Model Kits. It's essentially taking a clear nail polish and putting a light layer around the peg that connects into the socket. But honestly some layers of primer/paint might produce a similar result.
While at the hobby store yesterday I picked up some Krylon since I mentioned in a previous post that Rust-o-leum is unfortunately unsandable after application and was recommended Krylon paint and primer. Even if this ends up not being entirely sandable I'll still have them for the base colors of my stuff.
Real reason I went to the hobby store though?
Having time to think about it, I will be using the gold acrylic markers to paint the dark wood beads I intend to use for the TKB robe collar chain instead of using a rattle can. One reason being there is room for so much error and mess ups/smudges if I use a can paint as opposed to individually painting them. And so far its hard to choose which marker I want to use.
They appear to be the same tint but it feels like one is more reflective and shiny than the other. The UMark Metallic Gold appears more vibrant where as the DecoColor is a little duller. But the DecoColor appears to be more reflective with light than the UMark brand. But because I have way more DecoColor, I will likely use it instead. The robe chain is one of the projects I'm putting off until Gremlin arrives because I'll be able to work on it while also attending to puppy supervision.
I will also likely hand sew the Shenti together rather than machine sew as it would help me personally produce a more accurate stitch. Machines sometimes move too fast. The Sash I will likely machine sew the velcro in but for the false folds I'll likely do those by hand as well. For me things are just less anxiety inducing when I have full control of the situation. While yes you CAN Control the machine.. I had a heavy foot and will make it go too fast lol.
I really need to paint some thing with the Krylon Metallic Gold and see if it'll match up with the DecoColor Gold. That would make doing touch ups SO much easier. Pray for me guys.
Progress on my Vergil cosplay #2
Here I am with a new update post about my Vergil cosplay! It's my first cosplay ever and I'm trying to build most of it from scratch, so it's been a lot of work, sometimes frustrating but sometimes very rewarding. Let's see what I managed to make in the past two weeks.
