#fallforcostume Day 18: Accessories⁠ ⁠ I built a lot of my Princess Zelda costume on a cross-country road trip. I had been in Toronto for #CostumeCon; I returned home for just a few days before I had another event in Chicago. Then I stopped off at home in Indianapolis, packed up some clothes and my cosplay materials, and drove 1,300 miles to Texas, where we had a big family gathering on my aunt's ranch to celebrate her 90th birthday. I built all of Zelda's jewelry and hair accessories in the living room of a 150-year-old stone house with no climate control (it was around 100 degrees and I was thermoforming Worbla, haha 🔥🔥🔥). Then Laura and I got back in the car and drove all the way back to Indy (I hand-sewed in the passenger seat when it was her turn to drive), where we swapped luggage and immediately drove to Chicago for @animecentralofficial -- where I wore the costume to MC the masquerade. It was a hectic month.⁠ ⁠ Anyway, these are some of Zelda's accessories, photographed as I was working on them in the old ranch house during a family reunion while about 40 of my relatives wandered in and out to ask what I was doing. #fallforcostume Challenge issued by @redthreaded Day 14 is stitchery. When we decided to #renew our vows in 2001 we chose to create these outfits for the occasion. The amount of hand stitching on these was, combined, more then we had done before. My #FallForCostume Day 5: Out of This World is the Space Girls, a Star Trek/Spice Girls mashup that we made for the SF&F Masquerade at #costumecon many years back! We performed a parody of "Wannabe" written by my amazing friend Cordelia, who was also in the skit, and each Space Girl was from a different Trek incarnation: Baby (Yeoman Rand, TOS) Ginger (Dr. Crusher, TNG) Sporty (Dax, DS9) Scary (B'Elanna Torres, Voyager) and I'm... T'Posh (Enterprise) This was one of the most ridiculously fun Masquerade experiences I've ever had. The whole day is just this happy fuzzy memory of joy. (It didn't hurt that we won Best in Show, either!)
