i am exasperatd with the entire edifice of me/cfs, fibro, long covid, pots, mcas etc research rn because i have a problem with my brain where i think my own conclusions are very obvious and everyone who cant follow my line of reasoning simply hasnt been explained-to enough, this is a personality defect and irrational, but anyway my irrational assumption about dysautonomic issues of this area is as follows:
certain genomes are vulnerable to dysautonomia. these genes overlap with all collagen disorders (marfans, EDS, BJH, et al) autism, adhd, being gay, and being trans. people with this genetic vulnerability are more likely to develop the dysautonomic syndrome if exposed to disease, injury, or stress. long covid is not a new syndrome, it's just the regular postviral autonomic derangement and should not be a separate diagnosis. mcas, fibro, pots, some kinds of narcolepsy, lipidema, and me/cfs are the same disease and should not be diagnosed separately. all of us should be diagnosed with something like "post traumatic autonomic dysfunction", where the word "trauma" refers to any sort of severe physical, pathological, infectious and/or emotional injury. successive traumas should be expected and assumed to worsen symptoms. these diseases are extremely common, affecting about a quarter of the human population, and should not be shunted into specialized medicine because they probably affect the majority of people who actually voluntarily go to any doctor for vague complaints, especially during the ongoing covid pandemic. general practitioners should be trained on this extensively. salt is not toxic to the majority of the population and should be revised in the literature. the belief that "salt i s bad for you" has generally worsened the status of POTS patients, which again is the most common dysautonomia that exists in humans. diagnostics in general are not symptom-based enough and rely on tests we have known for decades to be less reliable than subjective patient reporting. the CME system is not working and needs reform, and this last point is particularly important because i KEEP running into doctors who dont know shit about anything
