The end. 💔
Jake and Kate ♥ (CHICAGO P.D.) (2/?)
“where you aren’t is where it’s at you see...you’re watching your back like you can’t relax. tell me: why’d you have to go & make things so complicated? i see the way you’re acting like you’re somebody else, gets me frustrated. & you take what you get and you turn it into honesty, promise me [i’m never gonna find you faking]”
– upstead’s relationship status? → it’s....complicated.
Continuing with 5x01 I have only a few things to say about this quick scene:
JAY LOOKING AT HAILEY LIKE 🥺 even when she looks away from him is the very definition of concerned boyfr— PaRtNeR so yeah. That’s that on that. ⬆️
And then I love to see Hailey getting to finally interact in a professional setting w/her future brother in law Will Halstead. Also I love a height difference. And how Jay holds onto his vest. ⬆️
Okay, that’s all I promise. Full scene below:

Ending Upstead scene of 5x01:
I enjoy seeing them in sync. Hello they even are walking the same it’s GREAT. ⬆️
I never noticed how intently Hailey is listening to Jay. Even as he’s turning around to face her, you can see the concern & contemplation across her face. So. Nice. To. See. So refreshing too, since Jay & Erin did not do many — if any tbh — serious talks. YUP. ⬆️
She was so positive around him though w/the “Hey take yes where you can get it.” Also a refreshing change of pace in Jay’s partnership.
No hate on Erin, but they focused so much on her negative family dynamics that it was hard for her character to put a positive spin onto things. Not exactly what Jay needed at the time, especially not at a time like this.
Cause remember when Erin fatally shot a kid (I wanna say in 4x21?) — Jay tried to spin it for her and be there but she pushed back & pushed him away. ⬆️
First of their “thing that works” sayings as Hailey said: “if there’s anything you need, please let me know.” Also the first variation of Upstead checking in on each other / asking if they’re okay. ⬆️
One of the first times we’ve seen Jay make the ☹️ face w/Hailey which is kinda funny. Her smile to him though is SO REASSURING. we love a work wifey supporting her work hubby!! ⬆️
end of rant on this ep; full scene posted below ofc:

Moving on to season 5 now. Episode 1 “Reform.” The opening Upstead scene:
I love how Jay looks at Hailey before he touches the doorknob. It’s the first time we see him do that before they breach & it sets the tone for the rest of the times he’ll look to her. ⬆️
Also I just like how they mirrored each other’s movements while avoiding bullets (damn people shoot at them a lot!) - Jay’s face says it all; he’s like “WTF?!” ⬆️
And then of course there’s the first time Jay says “you ready?” to Hailey [second time was in S7] and they share another eyes only communication. ⬆️
Then I just wanted to show how fucking badass Upstead looked in this scene. ⬆️
Hailey Upton w/the long gun! You love to see it! And obviously her first instinct after taking out the bad guys is to go find her boyfriend — oops sorry I meant PaRtNeR — Jay. Gotta love a concerned girlf— partner, right?! ⬆️⬆️
end of my analysis for this one. full scene is below from Twitter ofc:
