Ashley acting like she didn’t immediately choose violence
I my brain I know that Technically jester just like touched Caleb’s back when she cast call to home and he blocked trents counter spell but in my heart and mind Jester grabbed Veths shoulder with one hand and Caleb‘s hand with the other. And she like stood there behind him squeezing his had as she cast her spell and that fact gave him the strength to block trent. But my heart is real dumb.
Team Firestorm watching Caleb pulp 2 guards for basically no reason
Marisha was right y'all
hot take: the difference in the way the m9 are interacting with astrid (vs essek) does not mean they trust her more than him, and it doesn’t make them hypocrites
the difference is that with astrid, they only have to trust her on a professional level right now. they just have to trust that her own personal goals currently align with theirs enough to make helping them worth it. they have to trust that she has her own self-interests, and that caleb knows her at least well enough to determine if this is a play she would make. on a personal level, they don’t have to trust her as far as they can throw her, and i don’t think they do. they just have to believe she’s willing to put herself at risk for her own gain, and that’s easy for this bunch of shady mfs to do
with essek, on the other hand, they have to trust him on a personal level. aside from his own guilt (which has been...less than consistent for all the things the m9 would like him to regret) the only motivation he has for helping them is that He Likes Them And Wants To Help. with this group? they just...can’t accept that at face value. someone wants to actively endanger himself because he cares about them? hell y’all it’s taken them like 100 episodes to believe that about THEIR OWN GROUP
anyway tldr they’re trying to trust astrid as a tenuous temporary ally but they want to trust essek as a friend and one of those things is much harder and riskier
in liam’s defense i ALSO got so excited by caleb getting to use a new dunamancy spell that i didn’t even remotely consider the possible ramifications until i saw someone point it out, and i’m not the one actually making decisions in high-tension gameplay moments
i swear if they have to fight trent because of sam’s situational refusal to metagame -
as soon as matt started describing trent leading the guards i just started saying BAD BAD BAD BAD out loud like the fucking nemo seagulls
