I just thought this was a really good time to remind you all about cerebrospinal fluid leaks.
Whumpee just took a hard hit or fall. Their head is pounding as they try to make sense of up and down. They try standing, maybe they fall, or maybe they teeter until they can catch themselves on a wall or let themselves back to their knees. This is when caretaker runs up.
Caretaker catches them or knees down with them. Taking their head very carefully. Blood is oozing from somewhere but caretaker can't quite figure out where. That's when they notice that there's something clear trailing down whumpee's shirt. Whumpee is trying to get their barings, and they touch below their ear... it's wet.
"Am I bleeding?" They manage.
Caretaker gets a good look at it, "No... I, I don't know- no, not from there." Caretaker decides it's not worth worrying whumpee about the clear stuff oozing from their ear.
"What-" They're cut off as they get a weird taste in their mouth and running down their throat.
"Are you ok?" Caretaker asks, getting suddenly worried things are far more severe than they look, which is saying a lot.
"Down my throat." They motion along side their throat for emphasis.
"Wait... Are you bleeding?"
"I dunno." They murmur, trying not to give into the rising headache.
That's when caretaker gets a good look at where the blood is coming from. They feel their stomach drop, that's a crack- in whumpee's skull.
