This is going to be a small rant, because wtf. (cw: talk about the h*locaust)

To start off, I live in Germany and my town isn't really too "open" about the German history and stuff. This is why most old people are really bigoted (which i won't excuse btw, it just helps "understanding" this story).

Today I was just working in our garden and saw one of these old ladies talking to our neighbour (also an old white lady). They were talking about how bad the virus situation is and really seemed to emphasize that all of us shitty young people seem to endanger them by spreading the virus. The irony here is that both of these women just recently got out of quarantine after being infected with the virus because they met up with ten people, leading to another person probably dying, because her immune system is terribly weak (she has incurable cancer and tested positive).

In the same breath of saying that all teenagers are selfish bastards for meeting up with others (which really isn't true for my area, most people only meet up with one person or even no one), they also talked about the vaccinations.

oh boy.

They started insulting the politicians and saying that, if the government would ever push through a mandatory covid vaccine for everybody, they would rather die.

And here is the thing:

While they talked about this, they started comparing it with actual fucking dictatorship (and you probably know which dictatorship i mean). One of them said, and here is the absolutely disgusting part, "Yeah, soon they will tear apart our country and put the people that don't want to get poisened (get the vaccine) into camps. And on the entrance they'll write that the vaccination sets you free." (obviously translated from German to English)

To explain the last part: she used one of the phrases "work set you free", a horrible phrase written on the entrance of Auschwitz and used it for their own stupid point.

I did call over to them, pointing out that this comparison is so far from ok, but i don't think that they truly gave much of a shit.

Hearing that just really made me feel like throwing up. We visited a concentration camp in school. We saw and heard the horrible, horrible things that happened to jewish people, sinti, roma, homosexuals etc. for thing they could not control, just because others followed a disgusting ideology. And then there a these old cunts, that think they can compare their poor decisions with mass genocide. Sometimes I really wonder if people just choose to be ignorant or if they genuinely don't know what they are spitting out.
