a/n: as of today my last titus post hit around 400 likes im lowkey speechless so to thank u all i figured id feed you with some more mrs danforth.
titus didn't believe he’d ever fall in love.
it wasn't something you often saw in the world he was raised in. a world so bloody and filthy that no good feelings could ever come out of it. but they did. well, they did for titus at least.
titus fit into the organisation like a missing puzzle piece returning to its rightful spot.he yearned for the blood lust, the thrill of the hunt. when he hurt people, he was in control. not daddy or ursula. him. and god it made him feel good.
power was the one high titus could never grow tired of. and when his old man croaked and that ring was on his finger? he’d have all the fucking cards. everyone else would be on his leash.
and that’s exactly why he didn’t believe he’d ever fall in love. because who would marry a monster like that?
you weren’t from a high council family or any lesser family within the organisation. you weren’t tainted by lebail and his fuck ass games and you were not mentally ill. you were a fairly normal middle child from a big rich family.
well as normal as a woman from a corrupt political family could be anyway-
when titus first saw you, he didn’t picture you as mrs danforth. partly because he’d never had to imagine a mrs danforth but also because you looked like you deserved better than him.
you deserved someone like you. a guy who did the whole college thing and landed a good job. someone who loved you just as much as you loved him. someone you could raise a family with. someone normal.
but your father was a money hungry mayor who would happily send off his daughter to some rich man if it meant a good profit for him and his buddies.
so as soon as he had the chance, he put you on a private jet to the danforth estate and practically dumped you into titus’ lap.
titus knew you were different from him but he didn’t know you were totally different to any women he’d ever met.
you weren’t like his mother, not that he remembered all that much of her. he knew she was frail after the birth and let his father kick her to the curb. you were definitely not frail. he could see it in the set of your jaw when you got upset. or the way you’d frown at people who stared at you for a little too long. you weren’t afraid to bite back.
you weren’t like his sister either, fucking cunt. ursula liked to have the control without doing any of the heavy lifting. she was lazy and arrogant and thought she was better than everyone-! but you knew your place and titus appreciated someone who finally knew not to step out of line.
and you were definitely not like dear cousin kip’s wife. she was a 21 year old disaster waiting to happen. kip said they were soulmates. meaning they had a pregnancy scare and got married just in case. she was a hot mess of self-righteousness. she called herself mrs danforth like the title actually fit her. what a stupid bitch..
but when titus imagine calling you mrs danforth..well it just fit. like you were made to be his.
when the day came and titus had slipped the simple black wedding band onto your finger he began to feel things he’d never felt before. doubts.
was he really about to do this? sign his life away to some woman who didn’t know the monster she was marrying?
“you may now kiss your bride.”
everything seemed to melt away when you looked up at him. you offered him a small smile as you leant in.
that’s when it clicked into place, both your lips and the sudden realisation in titus’ mind.
he loved you. and he was going to spend everyday of your marriage showing you just how much.
