See when Aelin and co crest the hill at Orynth and charge down into battle, did anyone get major Gandalf vibes from LoTr's 2??
“Queen of Witches”
Can we remembered that in order to shift into another animal or being it had to be something the shifter could study? Lyssandra spent all of that time researching sea wyverns so she could shift into one thus meaning Dorian shifted into a woman because that's all he had to study. There were no other males among the Thirteen and the Crochans.
This scene provided levity and showed Dorian's progression with his new found powers.
After reading the back cover of Tower of Dawn. The bit about Chaol and Yrene. I'm hoping it's not a love triangle. I would loveeee if they developed a platonic relationship. Form being super tense and slowly opening up to each other. Also I saw one of your post on Chaol Crochan! That would one hell of a twist. What if they turn out to be related? After rereading Yrene's description. She sounds fairly similar to Chaol. Especially her golden brown eyes.
You know, I did not get love triangle from what I read on the back of that book. Idk. And when I add it to the extra Chaol chapter we got in EoS I can’t see where it would fall in line with Chaol’s character. He is loyal to a fault. He wouldn’t do that to Nesryn. I don’t think he’s biologically capable of doing that actually. LOL. Loyalty is in his DNA.
And I can’t take credit for the “What if Chaol’s Crochan?” Wormhole. That was (if I remember correctly) @rufousnmacska just spitballing with me on discord. But I can’t rule out that it’s very likely that whatever made Chaol developed such a prejudice toward magical beings/Fae is likely a reflection of something he hates about himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if his prejudice was informed by more than just his very conservative upbringing.
But I need to reread about their physical descriptions again. I remember thinking Chaol was described as having olive skin and me thinking he was mixed race or PoC. But I’d have to go back and look. Cuz I could be really wrong. Lol.
