crochet material experiments ft. textured yarns, beads, straws, recycled materials and embroidery
Here are all the samples of my crocheting! It was so fun to create in this medium and I have been growing this skill ever since I was reintroduced to it in class! Since our early weeks I made a walk hanging for myself and a hanging basket for 🪴 plants and I gave it to a friend for her bday and she sent me a picture of it hanging in her window and said she loved it! I have more plans to continue researching this material as the additional research I’ve already done with learning plant hangers and heart shapes was so fun!

Crochet Research: Samples (Week 4)
Here are my two latest creations! ⤴️ 😄
I practiced seaming with this one, joining together my very first square crochet (aww!) with my most recent rectangle one. I noticed it was more difficult to crochet with the soft, velvety yarn than it was with the regular yarn, but I definitely prefer the softer one 🥰
Okay, I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of this lil guy. I started with a circle crochet base and then started building upwards with single stitches, intending to practice crochet shaping by making a basket or mini mug. I tried out switching colors to create a stripe, and suddenly I was reminded of a little illustration of one of the Pooh Bear honey pots. I looked up the picture…⤵️
…and decided to make that instead! After the pot was finished, I practiced surface crochet for the word “HUNNY”, and I tried to mimic the child-like handwriting style.
For the lid, I started with a circle crochet, then switched out the color after a couple rows and decreased my stitches to form the lid shape. Then I increased them again, and expanded out with double crochets. I’m actually not really sure how I made the little knob on top––it started like a circle crochet, and then I just kind of criss-crossed my stitches a little bit and attached it to the lid. Not sure if I could do it again! 😂
I had a lot of fun with the honey too; I basically just did a circle and then I created the little drip over the side of the pot with some single crochets, treating the edge like it was a rectangle I was adding a couple rows to (if that makes sense). Then I went back and sewed the honey circle to the mouth of the pot. I think all that’s missing is some stuffing inside! 😄
